Just got done watching this on the ultra screen and was a little dissatisfied after all the hype

Its a pg 13 so I cant expect that much but still, the action and suspense was not up to snuff

The acting was good and the cinematography was breathtaking and left a very unsettling inside in light of recent events in japan

The cgi was very subtle and very well done adding a natural sense of realism

Ok couple of words on this movie.

if you ever needed to see a 2 hour commercial for the marines, this would be it lol not a bad thing either

the heartstring parts were a little over the top

If blackhawk down and ID4 had a love child, this would be it

It feels as if your watching someone play a video game

Probably the most honest interpretation of an alien invasion, even if they fall a little to easily to the human race. We've mastered faster then light space travel, but most of our equipment can be taking out fairly simply, and it looks like we threw it together with trash on the way here.

Still a good movie for whats it worth, i can totally see this being a good demo piece for a sweet system to show off

District 9 was realistic in a diff way . Battle LA was just a straight up annihilation of the human race

yea good point. I liked district 9's look as well

    2 different extremes

For awhile when I heard about this movie, and seeing as they didnt really show the aliens much, i was hoping it was going to be a kind of sequel with the aliens coming back.

This movie was sort of like RED 2 hours of anything and everything blowing up. Not a bad thing however I was more scared of the commercial than the actual movie.

Yea the commercials made it seems more in depth then it actually was. It was basically just a marine movie for 2 hours, things blowing up, and aliens.

I loved it but I'm a bit bias whenever Michelle Rodriguez shows up. Yep, it truly is ID4 + Blawk Hawk Down. Wished there were more grand battle scenes and I think they missed the opportunity to showcase a "combined arms" strategy (e.g. Transformers). Instead, we see everything from a squad level with aircrafts buzzing overhead.

As others have mentioned, this is the most gritty alien invasion movie yet but I still have issues with intergalactic space travelers landing on the ground to fight when all they have to do is bombard from space where we're quite feeble. If we're going to smash their beach head with B-52's why wouldn't they smash our F.O.B.'s from space? I'm overthinking again.

Still, it was a pretty fun thrill ride except for the $9.50 matinee ticket and $10 small Diet Coke and small popcorn.

The new Xmen trailer looked interesting...

Shake cam. Lots of shake cam. I hate shake cam. If you're susceptible to vertigo from shake cam, avoid this movie. I'm not so I can't really tell those of you who upchucked while watching Bourne Ultimatum whether you'll do the same with this flick.

I just watched it, fantastic. Just non-stop action with a sound field second to none. Nice full-throttle ride of a movie.

The shakey cam was a bit much for me but about half way though I got used to it and it didn't bother me.

Im like Ron P. I liked it much more on BD than the theater since I sat in the front row. However for me comparing to Black Hawk Down, I would have to pick Black Hawk Down.

You cannot compare the two, sci-fi vr a film based on an actual event, two very different genres.

I agree it was a-ok , but that could be because I was expecting "more" from it ; or atleast it seems I had a differant idea of what the movie was going to be like . PQ/SQ were excellant though . Definitly worth a rental (and backed-up copy  )

I enjoyed it. Great action, decent characters. I was hoping for more back story, like the incident that the movie was based on. It was a rental but after watching it, I'll probably buy it.

Oh, to be 10 years old again, and watching a war movie for the first time. Anyway, while this movie had great potential, the cheap-**** budget ruined it. The actors tried to get into the action, but they can only do so much with dirty cars, and old helicopters. It was okay, at best.
