NFL... and so the Lock-out begins.

Cannot say I am at all suprised by this. The NFL Players Association has been de-certified, and the owners will begin a lock-out. For the life of me, I cannot understand this. Both sides have begun the spin-fest to drum up public support for their cause, but I could care less about watching millionaires fight with billionaires for more money. The epic level of greed being displayed by both sides is sickening.

Maybe I don't understand the issues at hand, but anymore I just don't care. All it will mean for the fans in the end is higher prices for anything NFL, from tickets to t-shirts. All I can say is that if they fail to get their crap together in time to play QUALITY football(remember the substitute season?) I will be done with the NFL and go back to watching paint dry.

It disgusts me that while so many in this country are still hurting financially, you have this bickering and in fighting over money. I don't mean to sound anti-football, I am a football fan. It just sickens me that's all.

This is exactly WHY I stopped caring about any sports. They're all greedy fux!

And the fans that come back are schmucks! The fans, of ALL sports should go on strike. Cancel your ESPN and sports channels, and STOP going to the games.
But, they won't. They'll be back in 6 months, complaining about how it cost them $300 to take their son to a game.

So in one post you've managed to insult those involved in the sport themselves and also any fans paying to
    see a game. Nice.

Professional sports were never, ever about "the fans." That's where the "professional" part comes in. If you're a professional, you're doing it for money. I'm sure some in the b usiness CARE about the fans, but that is not their raison d'etre.

As for "greedy rich people arguing," rich people don't get to be rich by giving away money. Money is POURING into the NFL, no matter what, so I would think those involved should have some interest in how it gets distributed.

Anyone that supports this or the NFL after all this is CRAZY!!! I will no longer support anything to do with the NFL and anyone that is a fan of the sport should do the same,It's time the fans show them where the money comes from.

As Nap said with all that has gone on in our country the last couple of years it is sickening, this is not what we need. The sport world needs a wake up call from the fans, if nobody is watching or buying then what??? F*#K-EM is what I say..

Seems drastic. If this extends into the season then I might agree wtih you, but if they're just going to bicker during the offseason... who cares? Season doesn't start until August.

This past year was the first time I've heard of numerous people ordering "official looking" NFL jerseys online from (shocker) China. Stitched numbers and lettering for something like $25. I've always been baffled by $100 jerseys (although every pro sport has them).

The final proposal by the owners seemed very reasonable. The players wanting to see the audited books of the owners is not. How many employees get to see the personal financials of thier bosses?

Solution = FSC (Fox Soccer Channel).

OK -- here goes.... In the UK, every town has a football club. Thats right. Every hamlet no matter how small has a team.

you can go the football pitch and support your team, whether it's Littleport, Norfolk, England, Uk or Manchester United, you have a local team you can support.

And it's "The Beautiful Game". If you don't believe me ask anybody, they'll tell ya.

Started laughing at the title ("F@%kwits" was a new one to me) and kept it going thru most of the article.

It's not like this wasn't the path we knew was coming... we've seen this movie before. That's why I cancelled my NFL Sunday Ticket right after the end of the 2010 regular season... no way I'm paying to watch replacement games.

And there's always college football. Even though I'm a Buckeye's fan their replacement players should get us through the first five games relatively unscathed...

Then it wouldn't be American Football. It would be a watered-down something else.

I know either way I am not renewing my Sunday ticket and made sure to get it last season just in case. It was tough anyway as I am a Bills fan and last season was a bit of a joke. We were the best crap team out there. This year, actually substitutes may provide a better result, ha.
But, in any case, I will enjoy Bama football instead.
I would anyway, but after years of sporadic watching Bama games, I finally broke the wife on letting me watch em all.
NFL I really enjoy, and would hat to not see it, but I really think they all deserve a pay cut, not a raise.
They should not earn more than the president.
Especially thugs, some of them are, there's at least one who was acquitted for murder, and I believe actually there are two active players like that.
They should be in prison, not role models.
Many players are great, but there are many that are far from great too.
Baseball is still recovering from it's issues.
NASCAR is in the middle of it's issues, for me on that one, I see favoritism, and constant rule changes and inconsistency on their rules that keeps me watching only a few races, here and there from a once full timer who's been to maybe 50 races or so.
Football, probably the same amount of games attended.
But, me, I like my couch, and music, and fiddling around the property.
Foosball or not, I would like them to play, but it won't much affect me if they don't. And actually, I'll probably get more done if they don't.
Take a year off and let them go back to bagging groceries or whatever they can handle.

Both groups, owners and players, are greedy as hell and waiting for the other to break. I think the owners have the upper hand here. They will get paid either way; they still get the TV money. Wait for a month of the players not getting their paychecks. They will be begging to come back. The sad thing is this only hurts the fans and the people that rely on the stadium jobs (concessions, parking, etc). Its a real shame that with the economic climate of this country that multi MILLIONAIRES and multi BILLIONAIRES cannot agree to play a game.

The upside is, the last time there was a players strike, the Redskins won the Super Bowl!!!!!!!:smile::biggrin:

Nope - I think they could play football without killing each other if they stripped them of the armour.... tackling would be more about taking someone down instead of taking them out.

while they're at it. they should make them play both offense and defense. and allow only 3 substitutions per game per side.

    :D

OK, then, while we're changing sports that we don't like.... soccer players should stop writhing around on the ground after not being touched. And maybe they can score more than once a game. And change the retarded way they keep time.

Why's that ? I find it to be a pretty rough sport. Aside from the actors falling when never touched, and their funky way of time keeping. There's no resting, like in football, where you stop after every play.
