People are probably tired of hearing me talk about using Room EQ WIzard aka REW but it will remove all doubt that your sub is set up right.

I have a PC-12NSD, your going to love it! Go to radio shack and get a SPL meter, use it in conjunction with your receiver’s set-up to dial it in. I like to run mine about 3 or 4 db hot (compared to other channels) for HT. I used to use it for music when I was running a pair of Rti10's (turned the sub back down to flat) and it integrated very well.

Here is the problem with that approach. You are only matching the peak frequency you sub is producing with your mains.

You need to find the best placement to raise any dips and you need to clip the peaks and ideally end up with a fairly flat measurement across the frequency your sub is covering, say 20hz-100hz.

    Then run your AVR calibration.

Here is an example of a nasty dip at 70-80hz and peaks at 40-45hz and 60-65 hz.

Using your method the SPL is seeing the peak 65 hz which is 13db higher than 33hz.

Sorry this was supposed to be worded in a question about REW...can you use REW with pioneer mcacc mic, REW software, and a laptop????

no you can not. Hometheatershack.com describes the different SPL or MICs you can use which they provide a calibration file for.

This link describes what is needed.

I use Turtle Beach Audio Advantage RSM sound card.
