I have two 10" polk GNX104's and a 12" kicker comp. rms is 50-175 watts and peak is 400 watts. what size amp would work the best and what brand. i currently have a 500 watt four channel amp and a 180 watt jvc head unit.

sorry to break it to you, but using two different brands of subs will sound bad...and using 2 different sizes will sound worse...

yes, do not mix the 10's and the 12... you'd need 2 amps to do it, or just the exact right power ratings / impedance subs and chances are i'm betting you don't as it would be tricky for me to even do if i could hand pick the stuff to use for it... and yes, it would probably sound like junk.

the 500 watt 4 channel will probably work -- if it is 250 watts rms x 2 bridged at 4 ohms then that's fine for two 4 ohm GNX 10's.

otherwise, if its not... then you need an amp that is either 200 or so by 2 RMS at 4 ohms (whether this is a bridged 4 channel or a stereo 2 channel) or a 400 x 1 watt rms at 2 ohm mono amp.

suggestions... these are in no particular order... for the price, i'd buy the mtx 4250D -- its a good little amp, and it'll do the power you need -- its more than half off due to closeout... if not that, then the profile 600M -- mono's will be easier to use than 4 channels
