I hope that someone can give me a hand here . Me and a buddy of mine are enthusiastic`s regarding HT , car sound , guitar/bass amps and he is thinking to ad a second sub to is HT . Is main sub is a Velodyne VDR12 and he as lying around a Energy ESW C8 .
This are 2 different subs with different powers being the Velodyne 400 Watts and the Energy 240 Watts and with different frequency response , they will be connected with a Y splitter .
Is there any problem doing this or eventually create some problem to the receiver/speakers or decrease the quality of sound ?
Some enlightenment will be appreciated .

If you are using them in the same frequency range you will most likely have a problem integrating them and having them sound cohesive.
Now if the specs on the ESW C8 allow for it you could use it as a mid-bass module. Use it in the 35hz-80Hz and let the Velo handle everything below if you can.
This would require some form of external cross over. -
I'm using a SVS 25-31CS up front with a small HSU sub in the opposite rear corner.
Both are passive subs. My amp has level control for each channel. The rear sub is turned down lower than the front.
I like the way it sounds.
