how can I h/u my computer into avr or tv

Hi guys, Once again I have some time on my hands and would like to take advantage of all the sonic possiblities these machines have to offer. Firstly on the computer side, it's a Gateway about 5yrs old w/ no HDMI and besides that where to put the headphone jack in, that's my knowledge of the puter.On the avr side of things I have a Yamaha RX V-665 and all it's functions seem to work. I ran a quad from the bedroom where the computer is to the living room where the tv and all audio gear is located. Now, not knowing much I do know there's got to be a way of getting streaming audio out of the computer to the amp. What fittings , and whether or not a quad is enough conductors I don't care, I can re-run the appropriate wire. So how is this done, s-video into RCAs into component. There are so many fittings there has got to be a way of doing this. On my Toshiba there is a mini port w/ p/c in which I tried w/ the tv input set but nothing. So here's a project for you guys to get this to play while talking to a guy who barely knows how a refrigerater works(lol,lol). You got your work cut out for you so go easy on me.....Thanks....LW
