Can Center Channel Speakers be placed upright

I am trying to decide on the right speakers for a home theater system. I also like music. I was looking at the LSi9 bookshelf speakers and the LSiC center channel speaker. I was going to skip the sub woofer and use another set of rear surround speakers for now. I have a Yamaha RX-667 receiver.

My question is, can I stand the center channel speaker upright, vs flat?

    Yes but it won't sound as good. You need an amp to run those Lsi's because they're 4ohm and harder to drive. Your receiver does already have pre outs though which is nice.
