You can do it if you want. It's called "tinning". However, it is hard to get the diameter correct or not cook the insulation. I prefer banana plugs or spades.>

I'm a big bare wire fan. I use deoxit to keep oxidation away. No tinning. For convenience, I like crimped and soldered spades too, preferally silver over copper (not brass).Turntable: Empire 208
