Hey,
Thanks in advance for reading my question and for providing whatever advice you can.
I have a JBL - PSW-1000 Sub. I want to know if I can run a pair of powered studio monitors from the PSW's speaker output.
Thanks!

The JBL PSW1000's speaker outs aren't amplified. They're for when you're using an amplifier that doesn't have a subwoofer output, and have to speaker-level ins to the subwoofer before going to the speakers. I hope this makes sense.- Computer Rig -

Thanks for your input Jim.
I have signal to the PSW's coming from a Digidesign 002. Normally, I take these two outputs directly to my powered studio monitors which have a choice of either XLR or Phono (Guitar Jack) inputs. I'm trying to feed the Digidesign 002 output to the JBL input and then take an output from the high output (bare wire) of the JBL into the powered monitors via either XLR or Phono. All I'm getting through the monitors is a low field hum (rather loud). The sub is working fine though.
Any thoughts are greatly welcomed and appreciated. -
The speaker-outs will not work in your application, so just ignore them
There's a couple ways to go about this. You can put an rca-style splitter on your Digidesign 002's Alt-Main outputs (RadioShack cat. no. 42-2536). Then use a pair of normal rca-style cables to hook your subwoofer to the left and right channels. Then complete the hookup using an rca-to-1/4" cable (RadioShack cat. no. 42-7323).
The simplest way is to run some 1/4" phono male-to-male cables (like guitar cables) from the Analog Main Output of your Digi to the Monitors, then an rca-jack male-to-male cable from the Alt-Main outputs to your subwoofer, and control the volume via your Digidesign.
You can type any of those catalog numbers into RadioShack's website to see the exact parts I'm referring to.- Computer Rig -

Awesome idea Jim. Why didn't I think of that?? That's why you get paid the big bucks!
Thanks tons! I appreciate your efforts and the added Radio Shack details! -
Lol it's easy because I work in a RadioShack, so I've always got these part #s at my fingertips - Computer Rig -

Hahaha, that's funny. Not only am I a Radio Shack junkie but I had the connectors that you recommended right in my "bag of tricks".

The one problem with this hookup is in not having control of the sub output. The Digi 002 doesn't have an output volume control. It's controlled by the host app, in this case Pro Tools. This is fine if you're going to monitor at one level consistently but , yeah, like that's ever going to happen !;p
Are there any Radio Shack devices that split and distribute the signal? i.e.: 3 mono inputs > three mono outputs with individual volume control?
Cheers!
