At 52 years and counting I'm finding that classic rock doesn't work for me as much as it did in the past. I find myself listening to smooth jazz on my HT system delivered by a cable station. I have a set of SDA-2's for my two channel rig but don't have any jazz other than FM radio. The cable jazz is to generic, please recommend some artists. Thanks

Kinda went the same way (51 here)...started with the all music cable channels for smooth jazz (and jazz) which started my upgrade pursuit to where I am now.
I still listen and collect rock (whether it be on CDs, SACDs, or vinyl), but once bitten....got my toes wet in traditional jazz and well....I'm in the deep end now.
Are you looking for smooth jazz recommendations on media or just 'jazz'?

I'm not sure, smooth jazz seems to be 90% sax not that sax is bad. I'm looking for some rambling piano or electric guitar maybe an acoustical mix. As you can see I really don't know I'm trying to find my way.

Seems that way, but there's a good mix out there.
For guitar - try selections from Larry Carlton or Lee Ritenour. I have two CDs that are really clean and nice:
Larry Carlton - "Collection"
Larry Carlton and Lee Ritenour - "Larry and Lee"
For piano - try David Benoit or Jeff Lorber:
David Benoit - "Right Here, Right Now"
Jeff Lorber - "Flip Side"
Then there are the smooth jazz super groups that offer a variety on their disks:
* Rippingtons
* Spyro Gyra
* Yellow Jackets
* Weather Report
Go sample smooth jazz over at amazon and have at it to pick up some artists!
