Hi guys,
Another question I'm pretty shure you guys can handle. I want to get the music that's driven from my computer into my tv and ultimately into my avr.I tried a male end headphone size jack w/ 2 female RCAs coming off this wire. I already ran a 22g phone type quad from my bedroom where the computer is to the living room where all the audio gear is running. Now on both ends of the quad I soldered male RCAs and then tried every port in the units and it did
nothing. Now I know there is a RGB wire to pc in on tv but that is way to expensive for the run involved. Next would be a wire that has 2 male headphone jacks on it. First off , is there a wire long enough that has 1 male headphone jack into the computer and then the other into the tv.If this is possible would headphone jack get me full audio since I run my tv only through the avr. Also remember I have the quad ,so is soldering possible.

I really want streaming audio in my living room. Thanks ,for the most part w/ all seriousnes you guys have really been a big help, if not to me directly but also by reading other peeps problems..Thanks .....LW.....

Why would you be running audio out of your computer to your TV? It seems to me like you'd want to run it to an input on your AVR, like the CD input.

i would like to do run audio from my pc to my avr also. What for cable should i use. The cable coming out of my pc looks like a single headphone jack and i dont think that will work in the back of the avr

An audio y cable with a 1/8 inch stereo plug on one end and rca connectors on the other end would work fine...

Or, you could upgrade your sound card with one that has a digital optical or coax connector and connect to a digital input on your receiver.

    MDADIOGUY,
ok, so for your scenario what would I use? I need what wire type, fitting ends, which ports to use.Remember I have a quad running from room to room
It seems the way I was doing it would work, but all I need is another mini male phone jack into the pc in on my Toshiba. Thinking the tv runs through the avr would solve your proposed problem, and would take care of it's self. Also I did try it and either I wired the RCAs wrong or it just didn't work. I know doing it my way in theory is possible. Why, because I want streaming Greatful Dead in my living room.......lw

It sounds like you have a 1/8" stereo output on your pc. You need a cable with a connection like that on one end and 2 male RCAs on the other. I have no idea what you mean by "quad." This should accomplish what you want, but it won't be the best quality. A soundcard with a digital output (optical or digital coax) to a like digital input would be preferable. I avoid the cables altogether and stream wirelessly with Squeezebox.

Have either of you considered using something like the squeezebox? That's what it's made for (streaming of audio files from your PC) - and it's all wireless.

slyder01. hi-jack all you want at least you got your answer. I don't think my computer has the necessary ports and truth be told I bearly know how a refrigerator works so all this other talk is way beyond my simpleton means. I also would need a 50' run and waste the quad I already ran.

i already have mine hooked up via network since my avr supports it. I can play all my audio files through it that way on the web base, but it's slow to find certain songs, would be easier to be able to play the music right out of media player.
