Hi All; I have read many posts here on xover rebuilding. My 2.3TL's are about to get his upgrade. My questions are: The 5.8uf cap, I can only find 5.6uf, the 8uf cap, I can only find 8.2uf. I did not find any mention about the 750pf silver mica caps in the tweeter circuit. I am planning on using Daytons or other brands from parts express. Cost is a factor for me. Any help; Thanks!

While it would be nice to have "exact value" caps, keep in mind that the originals were something like 10% tolerance to begin with.

When replacing with 1% or 3% tolerance caps, A 5.6uf is easily within the usable range for the 5.8uf original cap, just as the 8.2uf is close enough for the 8uf.

I used Dayton and Erse brand caps on my SDA 1Bs; Dayton 1% for the high-frequency crossover circuitboard, and Dayton 5% and Erse 3% tolerance for the low frequency board.

You say cost is a factor, but not what your budget it. If you contact sonicraft, you can get custom value caps at no extra charge. For example, the 2 sonicap 5.8s I got for my TL conversion cost 14 each, which is about the same as a 5.6.

Yes, you can just remove the 750 pf cap. That was there to bypass the so-so poly cap in the original network. I left it out of mine and got much better sound.

Is there enough room on the 2.3TL board after the new caps are installed to also fit a 10 ohm and a 12.5 ohm mills resistors hooked in series to replace the original 22.5 ohm resistor? Thanks for all the help so far!

Also you can mount the resistor on the bottom of the board.
