I was planning to update the XO in my CS350LS with a Dayton 5.6cf Cap.

I am thinking while I'm at it, I should update my LS70's as well with a Dayton 6.8cf. What else should I consider doing?

Replace all resistors with Mills MRA12s in the same value. And maybe consider using sonicaps instead of daytons :)

    Thanks Quad

I was looking at this older post
    http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73915&highlight=cs350
where Ben had done a CS350 and that looks like a tight squeeze for the Dayton cap. Looks like the Soniccap is slightly larger and would need alternate placement.

I concur with what Quadzilla said. I installed sonicaps in my LS70's and they sound better than ever. Good luck, you'll be glad you made the change.

Clarity Caps would be another good choice.

I was speaking about the CS350 being a tight squeeze for the Sonicap. Look at the picture in link above and you can see the Dayton Ben put in there is touching the binding posts. I suppose I can hang it outboard a little.
I will definitely be using Sonicaps in my LS70's and replacing the one resistor with a MRA12. I'll get the single 5.6uF for the CS350 and make it work.

    Thanks!

Post pics of what you have and the xover. Might be able to suggest alternative placements. For example, maybe you could stand it up on end or something..... Sold my 350, so I don't have one to pull apart and look at.

SonicCraft order placed. Given their proximity I should have it in a day or two. I'll post pics when I begin the update for the 350. Might be a day or two later before I do the LS70's.

Having never looked in the 70's, will the XO be accessible by pulling the binding posts, or do I need to pull a speaker to get at it?

Assuming no production changes and your LS70's are the same as mine, you'll be able to access the crossover by removing the binding post assembly from the back of the speaker. The crossover is attached to the other side of the plate. After an hour or so of disassembling, solder slinging, and assembling, both speakers were up and running.
