RTi A7

Hi, this is my first post in this forum. I'm sorry if I write something wrong, my english is not very good.
I just bought a pair of RTi A7 (last sunday on sale at newegg) and had bought a CSi A6 and will be buying the RTi A3 or A1 next week to complete the setup. Now I'm in the market for the receiver tor run the RTi As.
The question is: I was leaning toward the Onkyo 808, but I heard here in the club polk and AVSforum some people say that the Onkyos are a bit bright, and also are the RTi As. Is this true? Should I buy a Denon 3311 because It's neutral (flat)? The pioneer VSX-33 has an hdmi issue with Samsung TVs, and mine is a Samsung plasma 50", so I should not buy one!
The speakers and the receiver will be send to me in Brazil, by ship (I have a brother who lives in the US, and the A7s and CSi A6 are already in his home, just waiting for the surrounds and receiver to ship them to me). So I can't buy a receiver and if I don't like it just return it and buy another one, because of the distance, costs, taxes and etc.
I need your guys help!
Is true that the RTi As are bright?
And the Onkyo 808 is bright too?
Again, if I wrote something wrong, I'm sorry.
Thanks

I have RTi A3's and CSi A4... Not "bright" to my ears! I can't speak for the onkyo. I have a Denon and love it (for the most part). Have you considered a Harmon Kardon? Those are known to be excellent receivers.

The older RTi's were a little bright, the RTi10's for example. I have a pair of RTiA7's and can say for certain that they are NOT overly bright. The Onkyo will be a good choice for a surround receiver in my opinion. Welcome to Club Polk!!!

I think either way youll be completely happy with the rti's I would eventually look into getting an amp outside your receiver to run those bad boys too
    Home Theater Setup
    • Receiver - Onkyo TX-RZ1100
    • Mains - Polk RTi A9's
    • External Amps - Outlaw 2200 Monoblocks for L/R/C
    • Center - Polk CSiA6
    • Side Surrounds - Polk FXiA6's
    • Atmos - 4 Polk 80F/X RT's
    • Sub - SVS PC-4000
    • T.V. - LG OLED65C7P

Thak you for the reply, I had considered the HK 3600, but the denon and onkyo seems to have more features than the HKs. Am I right?

Here's my shameless Denon 3311ci plug.

    - SQ-wise, definitely warmed up whatever brightness was there with my RTi A7s.
    - Packed with features that work without any glitches, firmware is updated relatively frequently, responsive/intuitive GUI
    - Preouts - works great as a pre.
    - Network functionality works well - plays mp3s / Apple Lossless / FLAC / DTS wave files from my media server with no issues
    - Great Auddysey setup experience and ability to tweak various aspects of your speaker setup
    - Many assignable inputs / functions.
    - There is a whole separate menu for setting 2 channel mode options.
-- ex, for the 2 ch mode you can set the speaker sizes, distance, ch level, sub, crossover settings and it's completely independent of what you have set up for HT via Auddysey.

I'd echo the amp recommendation. There's a big difference when they get amp power.
ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place :(

Thank you all! The idea is get an amplifier in a near future to add to the receiver. I know that only a receiver will not make justice to the RTi A7, but that's not in my budget right now, because I still have to buy the receiver and the subwoofer. I just want to purchase a good match for the RTis. But if you guys are saying that neither (onkyo and RTiAs) are bright, that makes me more confortble to make the choose between the Onkyo or Denon.
I only know one thing, the A7s are beautiful. And I hope they sound beautiful too.
    Regards from Brazil!!!
    Thanks!

I run the RTI A7's and an Onkyo 808. It sounds really good to me. This is my first real home theater. You should look at thr FXI A4 or FXI A6's for the suround speakers.

Crutchfield had the Onkyo TX-NR808 on sale for $699 when I bought mine a month ago. I don't know if they still have it for that much anymore.
    AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
    Amplifier: Carver A-753x 250 watts x 3
Fronts: Polk RTI A7 (modded by Trey VR3)
Center: CSI A4 (modded by Trey VR3)
    Rear: FXI A4
    Sub: Polk DSW Pro 660wi

NR808s are out of stock everywhere. The only places that have them in stock are those selling these for $1000+.

I was going to say at that price you just as well get the TX-NR1008 from crutchfield for $999 but it is out of stock too.

Wonder what is going on with the suply. They must be getting back logged. I know crutchfield just got a shipment in when I orderd my 808 a month ago. It was out of stock when I first started looking. I went ahead and ordered it any way to lock in their low price of $699.

I'm still searching for the sub and the surrounds ;)
If you haven't received them yet, I had the best sound with the RTi's set to large annthr
CSi on small. I had a strict budget of $1000 for the towers and center so that sale was absolutely perfect
