Thoughts on these speakers? I don't need them, but someone's offering them in good shape without grilles and a cheapo receiver (imma toss it) for $40.

I'll prolly listen to them a bit then toss them in the pile. Worth it?

If you got the extra money to spare, why not?

They sound alright, but it's not a "great garage find." But down the line you'll get bored and someone else is gonna ask the same question. Will they buy it?

Those SM series are about the same as Cerwin Vega's in my book. A speaker you can play loud as hell without caring if you blow them up.

The SM's sound better than the CV's They are half way decent, but the thing that plagues them is the foam surrounds on the woofers dry out. They are better than the newer Infinity's.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Owned them and liked them. They were the front channels of my first HT rig. The foam surrounds IMO are their downfall and I believe they had a "polycell" tweeter that could get harsh at times. I liked them for what they were and at $40, why not?
