Frankenstein 10a's What needs to be done?

I have been collecting broken Polks from local thrift shops for about one year. i first acquired a set of 10a's with one bad tweeter and three blown mid/bass drivers. i then acquired a set of 5jr's with both tweeters blown. lastly I found a set of 5a's with what sounded like bad tweeters. Must have been a problem with crossovers as they they tested with correct resistance and sounded great when i put one in the 10a with the bad tweeter. I also replaced one of the MW6500's in each 10a with the MW6502's from the monitor 5jr's. I replaced the remaining MW6500's with the newer MW6500's from the 5a's. Listening to the renewed 10a's the tweeter from the 5a's sounded better to my ears. Both tweeters look very similar. I'm not sure if they are Peerless or Sl1000. The ones from the 5a's differ slightly in magnet structure and have the Polk pinprick in the dust-caps. Just out of curiosity I auditioned one 10a with two mw6500's compared to the 10a with one MW6502 and one MW6500. The 6502/6500 combo sounded better to me. So there it now stands i have two perfectly matched Hybrid 10a's with the 6502/6500 combination and the tweeters from the 5a's. I know the MW6502 sounds different than the MW6500 and the difference in voice coil movement is easy to see. Any thoughts about what i have done and is there any special advice regarding recapping the crossovers.

Use the search function for upgrading crossovers. There are plenty of threads about recaping. Also the 6502 is 4ohms nominal, and the 6500 is 8. You can not use the 6502 as a replacement. It will screw up the cross over point and not play nice with the 6500.
    Welcome to Club Polk.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

My wife literally JUST blew out my newly acquired 1987 Monitor 7's... switched from her iPod to Radio and didn't realize volume was still cranked and radio came on and POP POP POP.... done :(

If you would sell the mw6502 I would probably give you my first born child!

Very disappointing to say the least. So if someone has one or two available, I would LOVE to get a vintage replacement rather than a "new" one.

    Please email me at tripn4days@yahoo.com

No Fuss No Muss! I can paypal you immediately. Thanks

ben62670 Thanks for the headsup regarding the MW6502's. I thought the MW6502's would be Ok cuz they looked alike and the model number was a similar sequence - duh! I think I need to get a MW6500 to make everything correct and then procceed with the recap.

My apologies for the flooding; just trying to get an APB out on them... Not sure that someone in the FS thread would necessarily peruse the the WTB thread.
