Hum in left channel

it's really not that bad,I have to put my ear to the left speaker to hear it,though.but,zero hum in the right channel.being an audioflile,I don't want any hum,period. I have the popular Adcom pre-amp 750 and love it,in passive mode.I don't believe that's the problem. thanks

    ok, disconnect all the input to the preamp and check for hum ( sometimes is the source).... Now check just the amp ( disconnect the preamp from the amp) and see if you still have the hum. Check the DC offset both channels.

    If the hum is there for all sources, you can focus on the amp/ pre-amp IC's.

    It can also be as simple as a poor IC RCA connection. If metals other than gold are involved, oxidation will build up over time. Usually breaking/ remaking the connection(s) a time or two will clean them up.
