Monitor 5Jr+ XO upgrade question

It seems like a fair number of people have upgraded the XO's on their 5Jr's, so I was getting ready to do mine. But when I got the XO out I was surprised that the board was mounted so that all the goods (cap, resistor, etc.) were actually inside the inductor. There's no way a Sonic Cap is going to fit in there, so I was wondering if folks have already run into this and what they do in this case. Do you just desolder the inductor leads, flip the board and mount it upside down when replacing it or should I replace it in its current orientation but mount the Sonic Cap and new resistor on the side that is currently facing away from the inductor? I was also wondering if there is clearance between the XO and the MW for the SonicCap. It seems weird that Polk would have mounted it with the electronics in the middle of the inductor if they didn't have a reason for that.

Anyone with ideas or experience with this? Thanks!

Scratch that question... there's definitely a good 3 inches of clearance between the board and driver, so no matter how the cap ends up getting mounted I'm sure there's plenty of space. I'll just flip the whole thing over... seems like the obvious thing to do.

Check out Zingo's thread. He's got pics, and showed how he did it as well as how he'd do it if tackling it again.

Thanks for the link... I completely missed that one. I figured that's exactly the headache I'd run into. Now I just have to figure out if there's any good way of putting big caps on those little boards. I'll probably play a bit with mounting the cap/resistor on the back versus flipping the whole thing over before everything's soldered. I'm sure it'll be a few days before the parts arrive, so maybe something will come to me in my sleep.
