Hello all,

Over the past month Ive dove headfirst into the Polk community, and I haven't been happier. Started off checking things out on here because I needed a new center speaker, my old system wasn't cutting it anymore. I did a lot of research and found that the TSI CS20 was a great choice for a center. Was able to pick one up on Amazon for $119, and couldn't have been more pleased with the sound quality.

Then the Polk bug really bit, and I noticed how much my other speakers were lacking. Decided that I needed a new set of fronts as well. I was stuck with a certain amount of money, but a recent raise had put me in a position that I could pick up a decent pair; so it was either now or never. I really wanted to get a pair of TSI500's, to match the CS20 for look and timber, but noticed that they were going for $400 a piece, way outta my price range. Did a little more research and noticed how highly people talked of the Polk store on eBay for refurbished ones.

I started checking out how reliable the store was, and how good the Polk customer service is, so I gave it a go. Was told also that calling Polk directly might garnish me a decent price. I first called them to see what kind of price they could give me on a refurbished set, and the first guy I talked to wasn't to accommodating; decided the best way to go would probably be eBay. Put in a bid, lost more then once, finally won one of the auctions for $485. A little bit more then I wanted to spend, but a way better price then $400 for a single speaker.

As I was going to have to call up Polk anyways to pay for my winning auction, I was thinking Id give it another go to try and save as much money as I could. I talked to a wonderful girl named Michelle, who was helpful in ever sense of the world possible. Told her my situation and she told me she could drop the price down to $465, which I was more then happy to jump at. After everything was said and done, $60 shipping along with a .0725% tax, it came out to $558.71. A great deal if you ask me, but to add some frosting to this already delicious deal, she told me that by paying today (2/25) that I would be getting the speakers by tomorrow (![2/26]). To say I was shocked would be taking it lightly. Now the $60 shipping fee really was a great deal.

Decided to go out the next day and get new speaker wire, seeing as the crappy 22awg I had prior wasn't going to make the cut with these bad boys. Bought some 12awg wire, came back home and noticed that my speakers were here ready to be hooked up. Fed-Ex did a decent job of keeping the boxes in one piece. He actually had another set on the truck he was dropping off, go figure. Unboxed the 500s, checked everything over. Not a ding or scratch on the whole thing. Look as new as new could be, and hell, they were new to me. Got around to hooking everything up after about an hour or so, and slowly started to break them in. No heavy listening, no blasting them just yet. I wanna give them a solid 40+ hours before I go buck wild with them.

Now to my question for all of you guys and gals.

What would you recommend me to use to break them in? I know they have white/pink noise files that I can use, but I was thinking more in the lines of what albums or music I should use? And once I have given them a good chance to settle in to there own, whats a good bluray or music album to really show off the TSI Line? I know there's plenty of other topics here on what movies to use and what albums are good, but had to post this as more of a thank you then another question post.

Finally, and most importantly. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to respond back to my rambling posts, and overly asked questions. You have made my trek into this new Polk community a great one. The help and advice has been more then helpful, and completely greatful. I hope to spend more time learning the ins and outs of what makes a great HT system, and hopefully meeting some more great people. Its great knowing there are still folks out there willing to help, thanks again

I like Dire Straights Money for nothing. Not my favorite song, but it is very dynamic. If you can run the setup while nobody is home that makes it go by quicker. Louder, but not silly loud is better too. Glad you like it here.
