My cable cooker design

Here is one of the most popular cable cookers.
http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0404/audioharma.htm
They start at $649. Mine is designed to have the same/more currant running through the cables as that model depending on which cable it is. There will be a meter to adjust the power level of the cooker. Also The type of signal generated can be user selected depending on whether you are going to burn in audio, or power cables. These signals can be upgraded at any time via download. You will be able to burn in a pair of speaker cables(or more if daisy chained), IC's(these can be daisy chained also), and XLR's simultaneously. I will be making adapters for burning Phono cables, and power cords. The link I provided above is very informative about burn-in time. Let me know what you guys think. I have al the parts on order, and as it is I will be able to build it at less than half cost

Another good read. I am also going to make an adapter to burn XO in.

It would be cool if you can implement within the cable cooker a pink noise generator with the corresponding outputs (rca, xlr) to burn in audio equipment.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

I have an idea in mind for devices like that. The parts are also on the way. It is going to be super simple and cheap
What components are you thinking of exactly? Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Wondering how one would know if a cable has been "overcooked"?
I know there are "cooking" parameters for different alloys, dielectrics, and lengths, but wonder if "cooking" could be affected by actual capacitance, inductance, and resistance of a particular cable?Testing

I don't know about over cooking a cable. In one of the links above it mentions over cooking and says it only takes a short time to "settle down". Length and LCR don't have hardly any effect in cable cooking. They also stated the some cable companies cook 500' spools of wire with their cookers. It's more about being able to retain the voltages for the cooking process.

So more about time and retained voltages?
Not so much, burn, settle, burn, settle but a retained voltage?
Current important?
As you know this is a very interesting subject for me, and I am a TOTAL noob to the "scientific approach".
What would be the difference in the signal generated for oh, I don't know, let me think........power cables?
As opposed to IC's or SC's?Testing

I am going to have an alternating signal for the power cables. One will be a 60hz sine wave, and the other white or pink noise. As for the voltages I am going to keep the voltages on the IC's at 2vrms. The difference is there will be much more currant running through the cable than would be if it were run full signal from say a CD player to a Pre-Amp. Also keep in mind when burning the cable in a system the voltage is usually very low with possible peaks to 2v.

Speakers, Headphones, and Power amplifiers. I figure a pink/white noise generator connected to a low power amp with an output of say, 25 wpc should suffice. It can be built on a separate chassis with rca, xlr, and speaker binding posts. It should be called a SHP Burner.SRT For Life; SDA Forever!

Speakers and headphones could be burned in using this cooker. Amps and other electronics can not be burned in using a cooker. I will be making a simple device that will plug into the RCA outs to burn electronics in. When I am done with that I will sell them stupid cheap to Polkies.Please. The parts came today. Well everything except for the device that I am going to be using for signal generating. I think I went a little overboard on the power cord.

Meh... it's only $5. If you spent $100 on an audiophile outlet specifically for it, then I'd gripe at ya some.- Computer Rig -

The reason I may not use it is there is very little currant running through the cord, and it would make packing, storage, and use more convienient if I used a lamp cord style plug. I might give the cord to my friend. He is an electrician and it is nice to know if an outlet has power.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. You could give it to me. My brother's an electrician. And they have much better tools to find out if an outlet is live than that. However, I could find a reeeeally good use for it- Computer Rig -

I think I only paid $5 for it. The nice thing is when you are on a job site, and you go to plug in a tool with a lighted cord you know right away you have power. I usually fire the tool up when the cord isn't lighted. Too many times you will climb a ladder wiith the tool, or go in an attic or something to find out you plugged into a dead outlet. They are also great for making a power distribution box for your extension cords.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. The holes aren't lined up perfect, but it is fully functional. I will do things different if I decide to sell these.
