Hey all,
Just wondering if the computer guys can tell me how much space Windows 7 (64-bit) and the Pro version takes up in a hard drive?
I want a solid state hard drive but price is way too much for anything over 120Gig. I will use the PC for Flight Simulator X and a bunch of add ons. I want to make sure I have enough room.
Thanks

15-20 gigs. You could probably get an 80 gig ssd and be safe.

Awesome. Thanks Coke!

I would plan on 30 gigs. This would allow for temp files, swap files, documents, Office or other often used programs, and hibernation. I have a 35gig Rapter HD and I have only 7gigs left. I install all my games and data on other HD's.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

Sorry guys, I forgot to mention. The pc is for FSX only. I will be installing a bunch of payware add-ons as well. It seems 120G is more than I need after I added up the amount of space required to have everything installed.
Thanks again for the inputs. -
One thing to remember is that the installed size is not going to remain the size of the system files. Once you start using it, the WinSxS folder will grow to be.... huge. That folder alone is over 6gb on my current install. We had issues with our early netbooks only having 32gb SSD's, and Win7 will NOT be useable on that size drive.
I think you're find with a 128gb drive, though.Ludicrous gibs! -
Protip: Windows always expands to fill all available disk and memory. It doesn't matter how much you have, it will never be enough.
I'm only partially kidding.Turntable: Empire 208

With my past rig I only used 30gb on my SSD and it remained constant. I even had Office installed on it. An 80gb SSD should do you fine if your aware of what your installing and where.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!
