LSi15 Bi-Amp

I have an outlaw 990 and 7700 that I want to use to bi-amp the LSi15s. Has anyone here ever bi-amped while using balanced outputs?
When I used an Onkyo 606 to bi-amp I just changed the settings in the avr and it took care of everything.
Do pre-amps take care of crossover freq's when biamping or do you apply the same signal to both the high and low on the speaker?
One last question, is it a big deal if the wire lengths do not match or is the signal propagation in the wire negligible?

The crossover is in the speaker. You send identical signals to each set of binding posts.

Can you use a Y-cable to split a balanced signal? I am not sure what the input impedance is, but i imagine that this would be ok if it is very high. I am concerned that balanced signals might have some active components on either side that would not like to share the signal. Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would not split it, either get a pre-amp with dual outputs or use unbalanced.

To properly bi-amp, you need to have the gain matched between the two amps. Since you are using two different models, they probably aren't matched. You also need to use external active crossovers. What you are trying to do right now is a complete waste.

the outlaw 7700 is a 7ch amp and I only have 5 ch taken at the moment, so this seems like a good way to make use of those 2 ch especially since the lsi15s are so difficult to drive. Are you sure I need an external crossover? I am getting conflicting answers to this. I am thinking of using unbalanced output from the preamp splitting it and going to 2 ch for each main. Then I would run a speaker config to make sure that the levels are consistent throughout the setup.

To bi-amp in the way you are describing, an external X-over is not needed. This form of bi-amping is not considered "true bi-amping," but is done by several here on this forum. I have used 4 of the 5 channels on my Sunfire Cinema Grand amp to bi-amp my Lsi15's and it did make a slight difference to my ears. In order to bi-amp in its true form, what F1 says is correct, an external X-over is required.

    I have bi amped lsi15 with marantz sr5007. 4 marantz ma 500.
Curious how it effects ohms and watts in them. I have heard they take a lot of power. Am I getting close to feeding them?
