Damaged package...

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this but it does concern a sub..

I finally received my Mp4000 on tuesday and low and behold the package was damaged like i seen in other posts. I got it unpacked and it has a nick just below the woofer at the same spot where the hole is in the box. Luckily it didn't hit the woofer. This is a factory refurb from polk direct, but i don't believe the nick was there when it left the factory. It was spotless without a finger print on it.

I sent an email to polk regarding what happened, i'm not looking to have it fixed, i can live with it. It would be nice if fed-ex would be a little more careful.

polk can file a claim, but is that just a white mark? Did you try rubbing it off?

A bit of automotive polishing compound and a microfibre towel will have that mark gone in no time.

It's actually a nick, i think shoe polish would even cover it. I just want polk to be aware how this has happened 3 times to my knowledge alone.. If i would have bought it brand new for 1500 then i would be upset and fed-ex would pay for it

If it makes you feel better UPS delivered both my sets of speakers, sub and receiver, all with holes in the boxes. I mean you could shine a flash light in and look around, thankfully the gap between the box and product caused by the Styrofoam was enough from whatever sharp object punctured to hit the goods!

I had an SVS pc ultra delivered by ups. When I first saw it (the box) I was sure the subwoofer had been damaged. It wasn't damaged, then I had another delivery again from ups ( a very light package) and the box was perfect.
Looks to me like the heavier stuff gets the damage, I suppose because it's more difficult to handle, but that's no excuse.

I got some M70's and one of the boxes had a huge gash in it. I peeked through and saw a one inch gash in the front side of the speaker... filed a claim and the store sent me a new one, so no big deal in the end, but very annoying in any case. Makes one wonder how much punishment online orders in general go through before reaching the front door...

My LSi9s are coming in today via UPS. Here's hoping they make it here in one piece.

My $1700 LG LED TV got damaged in transit on the top front right corner last summer and it has a similar "white mark" (as well as part of the casing being a little wonky). Unfortunately, it was under the protective tape, so when I signed for the TV (and opened the box and looked at it), I didn't notice it. It's irritating when I notice it, but at least it's just cosmetic.

Otherwise, the last 3 PSW-505s I've ordered made it here and to my parents' house in one piece.

    I empathize with you though.

I have ordered 2 sets of m70s from Polk and both of them came with cosmetic damage from ups. Polk really needs to do something about the way they pack these larger speakers. I think more foam is needed. They know the shippers are going to abuse these things so they should be prepared for it.

Friends of mine worked at ups when we were young and i heard all kind of horror stories. People would purposely damage a skid because then they would have to get rid of the whole skid. So the things that weren't damaged they would take. It's not like that any more. Ironically my step son just got a paty time job at a fedex terminal, he says they are really rushed which is understandable because we all want our packages yesterday,,,lol

Happened to me when I received my RM30s few years back, one of the box was so badly damaged I was convinced the speaker would too be damaged but thank to Polk good packaging and double box, there was no damage. The lazy worker jus throw the boxes around from what I've heard.

i think they throw and kick the boxes just to be ****.
You put fragile on same box as one that says steel bars and send it to the same place the steel bar box will be fine fragile or marked with care will be damaged for sure.
Sure they throw them around but fact is being marked fragile doesn't mena anything to them, same threatment, they just don't care!

Just received my PSW110 > delivered damaged by FEDEX . I called Polk and spoke to Eric in Customer support . He got right back to me ....."That unit should be exchanged. I?ve entered RMA1700 for this. We will send you a shipping label to have the unit sent back in. Just get it to FedEx and we?ll take care of the rest". Couldnt ask for better service .
