I have an opportunity to pick up either a pair of RTA 11t's or 12B's. Does anyone have an opinion on either pair, and if you prefer one pair over the other, why?

Also, can you give me and idea of market value today on these?

thanks,

First as has been pointed out, there is only one true RTA speaker . That is the 12. Not sure what is RTA about the 8,11 15.
I can not speak to the RTA 11t but did run a late RTA 12B side by side with an RTA 15TL. I really wanted the RTA 15TL to win but it was not happening. Several experienced people listened The RTA 12B was quicker more open and less muddy sounding. One friend looked at me and said they sound like a megaphone compared to the 12s. There has more bass weight in the 15s but it seemed deeper in the 12s with more punch. The 15 was a little smoother but it cost. For example on the Blues Brothers live album there is very little attack on the horns and such on the 15s. The 12 just sounded more like a live concert. in the room. The 15 just semed like to many drivers so the 11 may be better and have more control
I think Stereophile did a review of the RTA 11t and sort of ripped it but consider the source.Your mileage may vary.

I never had the 12's but did have the 10b's. Very nice speakers. On the other-hand, I really liked the sound of the 11's and the form factor. Was tough in my apartment to have the massive box of the 10's in the room.

:wink:Geppy!!!!!Yes! the RTA 12's are my favorites since finances don't allow for the big mommas!! lmao! Out of all the early series I just love the sound these little minx's put out! For Rock or any kind of music in my collection! I got two sets of 12's with Psw1000 and Psw505 and it is good to my ears for the small size of room! Thanks for agreeing with me!

I own 2 pair of the rta 11t's and they sound great i have never compared the vs the 12b's so i couldnt say which one is better. As fas as price i would say between 125-200 but it all depends on the condtion of the speaker.

If you haven't yet pulled the trigger, definitely get the RTA 12B's!!! Much better .

Did not get the 12B's - he wanted way too much for them. Found a pair of 12's with all the parts - and they are now in the collection!
