Hitmaster speaker replacement

Hi guys, i'v been using the hitmaster for about a month now, and i like it its loud in the mid and high frequency

BUT it kinda of flat in the bass area, tho it's loud enough to match the mid/high however it seems like it doesnt have "thumpy" effect....essentially "FLAT" sounding.


so i was wondering if you guys can recommend a better 6.5" mid-speaker replacement. it seems like the stock one has a somewhat thin "surround" material that limits the speaker travel.

it's a dual coil mid-speaker setup. a thicker surround speaker i think could fix the flatness sounding.

please advise yall! :)

    A single 6.5 driver in a cabinet of that size is not going to give you deep bass, period.

    totally agree with F1nut, there's is a limit to what a 6.5" driver can do.

    but i have these 2.1 computer speakers with a 6.5" subwoofer, and it produces why more bass depth.

    could be another factor - the hitmaster enclouser box seems kinda of small to produce the rich bass.

    Think your greatest issue would be the Xo. The HM has decent bass but is limited to the promised 40 hz. If you want more bass, use an external subwoofer or much more expensive speaker which will allow you to go deeper in the bass department (LsIM perhaps ;) ).

    yea i think you are right, i could be asking too much from something that not meant to be performed that way.

    i guess i should just be happy for what the speaker can do for 60$.

    After a little playing I would like to go the other way. I was considering a paper surround loudspeaker. Something to tighten up the voice response. They seem to have too much bass for my liking. I haven't looked...is there polyfill in the cabinets?

    In your specific situation, since you are using a mixer, use the mini built in EQ which usuall provides for HIGH, MID and LOW adjustments. Keep in mind the material use for the drivers is of much better quality than paper cones or surrounds.

    If the bass is too much for you, bring the LOW knob control down slightly (counterclockwise) to the level of bass of your liking. As far as your HIGH, you would do the opposite, bring the level slightly up by moving the adjustment knob clockwise up to your liking. Do your test as you would normally have the equipment set-up and the way it would be used with the microphone. In most rooms, when using microphone(s), the HIGHs can create/generate feed-back in the room and adjusting the HIGHs down will usually cure that. You have to keep in mind the HIGH bounces on the walls (creating ther feed back) while the lows will simply be through.

    As far as the MID adjustment, you would adjust this one to match the voice of talkers and singers in order to create reality as much as possible (that is where most voice range is located).

    Thanks Technokid! You've been most helpful.

    I activated the low cut filter(80hz) and that helped considerably. I also have the low pass turned all the way down. Generally speaking, this pa will be in use with kids and female singers.

    I do wonder if a cap of some sort could filter the woofer to somewhere around 175/200hz? Do you think that would do any good?

    When I turn up the mid or high it feeds back horribly but I haven't had it in any area nearly as large as it will be with performances so I know its not really a fair shake. Also they are only about 15 ft apart right now. I suppose I should not be too critical until its set up where its going to run. I'll try to do that sometime this weekend and report back my findings.

    p.s. I haven't received the independent xlr cables yet either. I imagine the feedback will diminish when I have control over all channels instead of the single mixed channel from the voco?
