I plan to pick up my turntable from the repair shop soon(it's been inoperable for many years...I'm stoked!). I've been commenting for sometime to the Mrs. that we should do something about the AVR...she wants to go with me to get the TT and said why not look at amps or whatever it is that "we need".
I about fell out of my chair but as the saying goes you don't look a gift horse in the mouth. So here's my situation...listening room is double duty for home theater 5.1 with a pair of Vandersteens for the front and 2 ch tunes. Other "large" speakers are my SDA 2B's in the game room...also being run off the AVR (B spkrs). I know this is much less than ideal and want to correct the situation as best I can without taking equipment into the game room.
What suggestions would anybody have (new or used) that would give me high current, common ground & cool running amplification and also allow the flexibility of HT along with 2 channel in the same room AND power the 2B's they way they should be in the game room?
I would not mind parting with the Yammy RX-V1400 AVR since we rarely listen to radio and we do not use the sound field processing it has. Seems the market for this may be around $250?

I would say that the marked is actually a little less. I picked up an rx-v1500 for under 200 a couple years ag0; that was a little below average on fleabay but still.
As for the solution, other guys can probably help out better. But my suggestion would be to use zone 2 preouts on the yammie (if it has them) or get an avr that does (my hk does and works pretty well) and then use an external amp like an adcom gfa-545 or 555. The 545 usually goes for between 150-200 on ebay. I use a little sonance sonamp 260x3 for my second zone and it works really well, but I think that you want more power for those sdas That way all the equipment stays in the main room.
