So I am about to buy speakers tomorrow and I was gonna pick between the Polk RM 75s and Polk 6750. Then I realized maybe my system might sound better if I got a center speaker and a pair of bookshelf speakers. If I do go that route I am settling for my old sub and 2 surround speakers from my old surround sound system. Would this set up be better overall or should I go with my original plan of buying the RM 6750/75s?

The speakers I am looking at are
Polk Audio CS1 Series II Center Channel Speaker
Polk Audio Monitor30 Series II Two-Way Bookshelf Loudspeaker

I doubt I will upgrade my sub or surround speakers anytime soon. My living room is I estimate is 20 x 17 and this is for mainly music and video game purposes. I am a newbie to this, but I have been reading in general that bookshelf speakers and center speakers and general better than the satellite speakers in 5.1 systems.

My budget is up to 200 bucks on speakers. Oh I meant it is for movies, not music.

I saved alot of $$$ by using PolkDirect on EBAY. Below is a link to their site with a CS2 center that usually goes pretty cheap. I would also use www.searchtempest.com and search craigslist for surrounding cities in your area. In the search option just type in polk audio and normally find good deals there as well. I would save a little and buy as much as I can for the bucks, do a little research and find deals on what your looking for is the best option. Don't pull the trigger to quick.

Wkdaywarrior98 thanks for the helpful links. I wish I had those links days ago cause there is a guy on craigslist selling the speakers I want but it might be too late as they were advertised on the 20th. That link to the CS2 is great too. Thank you again.

No problem, this site was the cornerstone to me finding and getting the set-up that I am using now. It is now my turn to help a fellow/future Polkie.

Good luck on those speakers. Keeping fingers crossed their still for sale.

They are actually there. He has M 30s and the CS1 center. I am alittle conflicted due to the CS 2 on ebay with 0 bids, but that isn't a guarantee as someone could just snipe it at the last second. The living room I live in is pretty small and the center speaker is probably less than 2 ft in front of me. I am just wondering due to this, will I be able to tell the difference or not. Money is also a factor, $200 is my budget, but I would not to spend 200 lol.

I watched the CS2 on EBAY and won it at the last second for $82.00 could be a little more or just the $79.00, you never know. Newegg has the Monitor 40's on sale for $129.00 with $2.99 shipping or the Monitor 30's for $89.00 with 2.99 shipping. (see link below). I am sure you will decide the best way to go and if it takes you another few days I think the CS2 is worth the wait. IMO.

A update, I got my speakers, the M30s and the CS1 center from a guy on craigslist and I tried them out and they sounded good. He offered $150 for them after I pointed out the Newegg sale. Stupidly I wasn't thinking and I handed him $170 without realizing it until I came home and checked my wallet. I somehow miscounted my money, probably due to how excited I was at how low he went. Oh well 20 bucks won't break me, but I feel idiotic. Anyways thanks for your help guys.

That sucks about the $20 .... but atleast you are still under $200. Now you have $30 to start saving for your next upgrade .....
