Anti-Diffraction Grille

Hi there!

I have two RTI4 speakers as front (2.1), and I was wondering about grilles on versus off. I use them off at the moment, but I was reading somewhere (can't find out anymore) that Polk had anti-diffraction grilles, and that removing them could alter the sound.

Sure thing, it seems to have a difference between having them off and on, but I can't tell what is the real effect of this grille. Seems to tame off some treble, but is there any drawback?

Thanks!
Speakers: Polk Audio LSiM 705, LSiM 703, LSiM 704c
Receiver: Denon X3500H

The grills are to protect the drivers,,, dust, cats, kids,, as far as the sound goes,, if you like it better with them off,, leave them off, if its to much treble, with them off,, put them on,,your ears,, your call.

Thanks, so there is nothing "revolutionnar" about their grilles? (i.e. their main purpose is to protect)

I'll do some test and I'll keep whatever seems the best.

It would be really cool to see a frequency response with them on vs off, if anyone has the equipment and is willing to do the experiment. I have always wondered about this.
