Anyone have any experience with this receiver? I am thinking about using it to drive a pair of Monitor 70s. I have been using a Pioneer SX-950 and have no complaints but I want to buy something new as long as it isn't a downgrade sound wise.

I'm not too impressed with that receiver. It will run a pair of those speakers, but they won't sound their best. If you add 3 more speakers for surround sound... Ahhh, I wouldn't want it. JMO.

Forget about the RX-497 and get yourself an AX-497 Yamaha Integrated if it's just for a two channel system. Newegg sometimes runs a Half-price sale on these as they're being discontinued. Two channels 85/channel RMS, also will drive a 4 ohm load and has a passable phono stage input? At half price (199). Definitely enough power for a set of M-70s. NO sub output, though. But A/B speaker terminals?

I see, the RX-497 is a stereo receiver. Still not quite as good as the integrated. But if you want a tuner in there, might be a reasonable option...also has low impedance capability, and a sub-out.

Sorry, I read your post and thought it said "RX-V467".

I'm not familiar with the 497, but it looks capable enough, probably similar to or the same in ability to the one cnh recommended. There are lots of 2-channel integrateds and receivers that would also do the trick. HK's gets a lot of recommendations on here - I think it's the 3490.

Yup, thats what I have and I love it! Running a pair of Primus 162 bookshelves from it.

It has A&B speaker inputs and 2 sub outs. It can drive a 4 ohm load but then you cant use both A&B inputs.

Personally I am planning on getting a nice DSW sub when money allows and I will be done with my office setup
