...when there's a seemingly generic product that you've bought for years that is no longer available.

We've always used the 120 watt GE Reveal bulbs for our indoor floodlights, puts out alot of light and I'm a big fan of color of light that the Reveal bulbs produce.

I go today to buy a replacement...nada! These things are literally nowhere to be found, in store or online!

Yeah it's a small thing to **** about, but its also a stupid problem to have in the first place. I ended up going with an alternative 'Daylight' 120 watt CFL bulb at Home Depot and the output is absolute crap!

I know the new bulb is cheaper to run, but I don't give a rat's **** about that, I want decent light output regardless of the cost.

I'm pissed

I've sent a letter to GE detailing my concerns.

In the meantime if anyone has any of these I'd be willing to pay a ridiculous price for them

Probably phased them out due to the higher energy efficiency required for bulbs in 2012. If you don't like CFL, there's always halogen.

If I'd have known about it I'd have bought a whole bundle of these bulbs. It's not just the light output, it's the color as well, and don't know if there's another bulb out there that has the same kind of light the Reveal bulbs have.

I better stock up on the 100 watt regular bulbs while i have the chance...

    Oh, and another thing...

GE prints, ON THE BOX of the bulbs we were looking at, something to the effect of "To save money the best thing to do is find the light output that you're looking for and then get the bulb with the least wattage used to get that output".

Then....they don't print anywhere on the box what the actual output (in lumens) is on their bulbs!

    That's just dumb

    65W- item #7 Didn't see any 120s

    http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1298330219/ref=a9_sc_1?ie=UTF8&search-alias=aps&field-keywords=reveal%20flood%20lamp#/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=reveal+++lamp&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Areveal+++lamp

I also plan to stock up on incandescent bulbs. I don't like or trust CFLs one bit. LEDs are supposed to be the next "big thing" in lighting.

Yeah I saw the 65 watt bulbs, but am assuming they'll be half as bright as the 120, may have to go that route though.

I don't really have a trust issue with CFL, I just think the light output is pathetic. I had a friend trying to talk me into them "Dude they save me like a hundred bucks a year" - my response "Yeah, but you can't see ****"

I hate CFL. I liked them at first, but they yellow quickly and don't last. I like Halegen.

You better have the coin for the LED's. I have the stupid 2 pronged halogens in my kitchen, which are not cheep and don't last long, I've been wanting to try the LED's, most seem bulky and don't look great.

    Lightbulbs piss me off too.

These are a long ways from 120 watt flood lights.

Check out your local Target Store. Reveal light bulbs are being closed out for amazing prices.

Won't be long and incandescent lamps will be no longer.

I don't mind my CFLs, but I prefer a dimmable light, which is tough to find in CFLs. And unless you have the "instant-on" CFL bulbs, waiting for them to warm up sucks.

To me, a bulb is a bulb. I understand the differences in color and intensity that different types of bulbs offer...I just don't see why it matters.

Unless you're trying to show off something in your house, what other reasons are there to need one bulb over another? (I meant that as an actual question, cause I'm curious).

There was no logical or rational reason to switch to new light bulbs. People are against it because its change for the worse for the sake of change, not change for the better. The environmental excuse was proven to be a lie. The only good thing I can say about them is they last forever, both in your lamp and in the ground.

I have nothing against energy saving bulbs except what Demi points out above. If you're going to PUSH these bulbs...they should be environmentally friendly. But they are not...as most of you know they're full of poisonous elements that pollute the environment?

Somebody is REALLY thinking here. It's just like the 'batteries' in my wife's Prius--an environmental 'clean-up' nightmare!

Not sure I get how using less energy for approximately the same amount of light is a lie?

Edit: didn't realize you meant the materials they make them with. I agree with that part.

I feel your pain. We buy things by the case to reduce our long term cost. Biggest problem with that, is when you finally do need more, often they stopped being produced years before.

I guess if you want a high wattage, corrected color flood, you might have to resort to photographic bulbs. (where the reveal idea came from anyway)
