Unbelieveably pissed w/ same problem

Hi Guys, I believe I told you my the story of how my Yamaha clipped at a certain frequency or vol levels I never reached before. In the past the Yamaha is my H/T avr but also my regular tv amp. I'm home all day because of a dissability and it's either tv or tunes all day before I got my 2-channel gear.
Now the after the clipping Yamaha told me it was a protection circuit and was triggered by either heat, beat speaker , or short. I did a process of illimination and it appeared to be the right front Klipsch sat speaker. After calling Klipisch
they obliged me by sending a new speaker which I babied for a while then it was time to see what the pos side of the vol scale on the Yamaha sounded like.I never got there, and it's doing the same thing on the same channel so it can't be the speaker. I just called Yamaha and gave them an ear full that their amp can't produce the #s it porports to. So before I need to have it serviced they said try one more thing. Since the amp is on all day for tv, movies and tunes they suggested to play it cold when the time allows w/ neighbors and then see what happens thinking it's just to hot w/ no fans at all.If that doesn't work and already I have no faith in this experiment I'll have to send it out for service. Now for a revue , the amp gets to hot, has sound fields that add nothing, and dout it is 90w pc. Pluses it has docking feature which is great,pre-outs, HDMI 4INs1-out and a 2nd zone set up. IT shure looked good in the store. Comments please and I know it'sbeen reported before but now it might be fist-o-cuffs w/ Yamaha...

Not sure what you're looking for... Maybe you got a bad unit. It happens.
Send it in for service and see what they can do for you. Have you tried switching the channels (swap left for right)? Or you can remove that channel all together and see if it still happens. There's always the wire too, you can swap that out as well.Main Surround -

its an AVR, its only going to be able to do so much.
Your also probably pushing it too hard which then is also the cause for the protection circut. Get an amp seeing you have pre outs and do it that way.
Not really their fault seeing you are the one that likes to listen at high volumes, so if thats what you want to do, then get the gear that can handle it vs something that will probably crap out on you. -
It's not healthy to be unbelievably pissed over an AVR.

Add an external amp for the mains and let the AVR do the rest. Problem solved, and it may not cost you any more than getting it serviced. The Gear... Are you running it 2,5 or 7 channel mode when the clipping happens ? Klipsch are pretty darn easy to drive, can't imagine you clipping even in 7 channel mode. Unless your turning the volume way up of coarse. What gauge of speaker cable are you using ?
May just have to send it back for repairs at the end of the day, would be too aggravating for me to have to put up with that.HT SYSTEM-

Smaller power supply. Your 665 rated at 90 watts weighs 20lbs. My old AVR Yamaha 2092 rated at only 10 watts more than yours weighs 44lbs. More current.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.

Usually true, but remember not to apply this to ICE amps folks! (this isn't).Main Surround -

GUYS,1. for the h/t all spkr wire is 16 gauge w/ short runs. 2. I usually don't listen at high vol w/ the Yamaha, but if I did it should handle going down to -2 on their vol scale. 3. The Klipschs' are the best part of my H/T and yes I can use the pre-outs but I use my Adcom gfa555>OnkyoP301 for 2 channel.
Now if I used the pre-outs on the Yamaha into the Adcom the clipping would go away I'm pretty shure of that.Thing is an aledged 90w avr w/7.1 should handle the vol I was at . Never did ever come close to the +side of their vol scale.I do think a fan might heip.2chl- Adcom GFA- 555-Onkyo P-3150v pre/amp- JVC-QL-A200 tt- Denon 1940 ci cdp- Adcom GFS-6 -Modded '87 SDA 2Bs - Dynamat Ext.- BH-5- X-Overs VR-3, RDO-194 tweeters, Larry's Rings, Speakon/Neutrik I/C- Cherry stain tops Advent Maestros,Ohm model E

HI GUYS, I think your taking this the wrong way .I usually listen at between-19and=25 which is not loud by anyones standards. I just wanted to see what the amp could do and up to =2 it was ok and that's loud. Now the 665 does have pre =outs and I do have an external amp but I wanted to keep them as 2 seperate systems. For wire I use 16 gauge and all the runs are less than 5feet except for the rears which are at 10 that's from the auto set-up calibration.I not saying it should run at high vol all day that's not going to happen, but for a movie or a cd or 2 it should not clipp.here's all my gear.

what does ICE amps have to do with anything? Any amplifier will clip if driven beyond it's means. I believe somebody in another thread was having a problem with a Denon and having it sound very bright...same thing was probably happening. The amplifier was being over driven. The volume is no indication of what power you're using...it's simply a measurement of gain. -

That's a pretty cold comment.
I don't think his 665 has an ice amp.
Watts is not always watts.
