My question is regarding the xover settings for these speakers. i've played with the settings enough to where at certain points it sounds like crap to where I'm not getting any volume, and on the other side of the spectrum, I get distortion and too much bass from them. I want little to no bass coming from these speakers and clean crisp mids and highs. I am going to get an amped subwoofer for the lows, and the headunit has separate xover settings for that. The headunit is Kenwood Excelon KDC-X994. The xover settings can be found here http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchf...113KDCX994.PDF on page 44.

The frequency response of the db501 is 65Hz - 22kHz
The frequency response of the db651s is 50Hz - 22kHz

alright well here's the new deal...I'm hooking up a Boston Acoustics 50x4 rms amp to these speakers now and this is my question:

Should I set the x-over settings on the HU to "through" and adjust the x-over dials on the amp, or should I just use the x-over settings in the HU, or should I use both?

Basically what I'm asking is if the HU's x-over settings apply to the preouts as well or just when utilizing the internal amp the HU has?

Set them from h/u, leave amp setting on "full range"
