The infinity Kappa 9 vs The Polk 1.2's
They both are very good speakers, but I wouldn't part with my Polk 1.2's with the new tweeters, and MIT cables,it's something special to hear.I love bass and the Polk 1.2's has it,even without a sub-woofer.
The Kappa's,there's something special, magical about them.can't put my fingers on it yet.after listening to the Polks for so long,it's tough. The highs are better with the Kappa's.but, after the burn in,oh lawd, there we go again,"burn in" The polk's highs are great now,yes after the burn in.Maybe it's all in my head, huh?
Anyway,I'm glad to be the proud owners of these Two magnificent 'Vintage Speakers'

Just candles now, RicardoPolkAudioClyde -
You are very lucky indeed to own them. I have never heard either one but after looking at photos of the Kappas on the internet I have to say they are absolutely beautiful speakers. They are something to be proud of for that reason alone.
Thanks TennMan,it took a while to get them.I always got out bide on E-bay.You can find them on E-bay,very often. There's a pair now on Ebay. I had the Kappa 8 years ago.PolkAudioClyde -
I have 3 pairs of vintage Infinity's, and also like them all. They're from the models that came out right before your Kappa's. So, yours have the stronger IMG woofer cones; all mine are basic polypropylene.
I almost jumped on a pair of 9's a couple years ago. I had the opportunity to A-B them next to the RS2.5; the seller could only keep one. He leaned toward keeping the 9's, and I leaned toward buying his 2.5's, which I did.
I'm sure you know, Kappa 9's are very amplifier-current-demanding. That bass circuit can be ravenous. How are your Polydomes?
Congrats; these are unique, extremely attractive speakers.Polk SDA SRS 2

I'm sure you know this about Kappa Polydomes already, but I'll throw it out anyway just in case....
The original clear Polydome is notorious for drying, yellowing, and cracking apart with age. The dome replacements are no longer made or stocked, but there is a direct replacement driver that a lot of people have used with success, this one:

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe it's this driver, once made by Vifa and now bought by Scan-Speak:

Here it it for a little less money:
