Breathing Room for a CDP that uses Tubes

Looking at purchasing a Jolida JD100 CD Player that has a tube output stage. Since I've never dived into tubes, my question is simple:

Does this type of CDP need breathing room if I were to put it into a relatively tight space? I only have 1" to 2" of room on top, but open space in the back and sides.

I tried searching, but didn't find much (as in nothing) on the net. Maybe it's just a case of common sense???

    The manual states not to install as a built in unit or in a rack without proper ventilation. It also says not to obstruct the top. My unit sits in the open but doesn't produce very much heat. I would consider the installation you propose as OK.

    The manual doesn't have any specific measurements for ventilation, it just says not to obstruct the top portion and not to place in a built-in rack or installation that does not provide adequate ventilation. As long as their is and inch or two above and in an open rack such as yours it should be perfectly fine. The small preamp tubes don't put off all that much heat anyway.

    Most of the heat comes out of the top back right vent, but as the dragon stated, they don't put out a lot of heat. Two inches of clearance should be fine.

    Thanks Rabbit. I've just started looking into fans out of sheer interest. I think I might try and put one in this weekend for my amp -- didn't even cross my mind for the CDP.
