    Been to Pocono 27 times, Bristol 5x, Charlotte 11x, Darlington 3x, Martinsville 3x Talladega once, Watkins Glen once
    Started backing down in the late 2000's, when they changed the rules every 5 minutes/favoritism was too much.
    I keep trying to watch.
    Football is where it is at for me.

    Routed for Davey and then Martin

    More fun yet was driving, I drove Charlotte and Bristol, with my good times coming at Bristol fastest lap 23.22 seconds, both free from sales contests, and both really fun. Richard petty driving experience.

    In fact, if I could afford it, I would race at Bristol at least once a month until good enough to compete.:cool:

    And 'Smoke', Tony Stewart wins the Nationwide 300 by 7 one hundreths of a second, good enough for me! Did the 3 finger raise on the Polish victory lap, tomorrow is gonna be fun! :biggrin:

    It should be a good race tomorrow with the changes to the track. Went to a lot of the races back in the early 70s. Atlanta, Darlington and Charlotte. Nothing like getting the blood pumping as when Petty blew his engine right in front of me at Darlington. Everyone needs to spend a few weekends on the infield to understand the races. A lot more than cars going in circles.

    Was good to see Waltrip win the trucks, and good for Tony to get the Nationwide series. tomorrow should be fun.
    It was neat to hear Danica say that she did not know how to do the 2 car drafting. I will give her credit for admiting that. She did okay at leading when in the 2 car draft but clearly you could tell she did not know what to do when following.
    I thought she would have a worse attitude coming over from Inday cars, but it looks like she is okay going in circles!

    I go to the 2 Richmond races every year. I used to like Kyle Petty before he stopped racing, now its all about Kasey Kahne.

    Whaddya say Junior wins tomrrow ? It would be fitting that the 10 year anniversary race beyong Dale Sr's passing was won by an Earnhardt. I don't want to say fix but these things have a way of happening. :wink:

    Great point.

    That would be all over the headlines and every office around the country would be all abuzz to see who got to see it happen live or on TV live.

    I've noticed superbowls kinda doing the same in years past.
    Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

    Golf is more boring to watch than NASCAR. I prefer to watch golf as opposed to NASCAR because I play golf all the time but I can't watch golf for very long, mostly to see who is winning. If I could drive a NASCAR car as conveniently as I can golf, I'd probably be more interested because I LOVE driving fast cars.

    ...and by the way, neither golf nor NASCAR is a sport. Golf is a game and driving is a sedentary activity.

    Football, baseball, basketball etc. are sports IMO.

    Congrats to the rookie win at Daytona. I've got to say though that I'm not a big fan of that team drafting stuff. Way too many wrecks are being caused by it. I was cheering for Jr. first and this young kid next. Pretty good race overall.

    Trevor Bayne is from my hometown and attended the same high school. Good to see another local boy do well. Another "kid" from that school has done alright for himself in sports as well...Todd Helton.

    Although I'm not a big fan, I decided to watch some of this thinking maybe I'd missed something on previous occasions that everyone else sees in it. In watching, I came away with two observations:

    1 - Too many wrecks. I thought these guys were supposed to be good at this? Watching that many wrecks in one race would be akin to watching a football game with 15 fumbles - I suppose it's entertaining to some, but it's kinda frustrating. Maybe they're out of their element because it's the first race or whatever, but it is frustrating to watch. I don't like the two car drafting thing they do. I get that you go faster, but I don't find it fun to watch.

    2 - The end was exciting, and I found myself pulling for the kid to win the race, odd since I have no attachment to him or the sport.

    I am a casual fan of NASCAR. I rarely watch a race. The last guy I really followed was Bill Elliott and before that David Pearson (kind of appropriate since Bayne's car had a Pearson throwback paint scheme)...so as you can see...it has been a while. Things like Trans Am and road racing are more to my liking. I am however forced to keep up with the sport through a friend who is a bonefide NASCAR expert. He knows a lot of people in the business, he has regular radio shows about NASCAR...and he has the distinction of owning the very first set of season tickets to the Daytona Motor Speedway. He has not missed a Daytona Race in over 50 years. He has been carrying on about Bayne for a couple of years about how good he was and how good he is going to be. He was evidently right.

    I am glad our discussion got you to watch at least a little. Congrats to Trevor Bayne on a very exciting finish. He seems like a quality individual and mature for his age. I hope he goes on to have a great career in racing. :cool:

    I started watching it at home. Then in the car. I5 min break. Then in the car again. Then watched it at a pizzaria for a while. Then missed about an hour. Then listened in the car again. Then finished watching it back at home.:tongue:

    It was very intertaining for my wife and I today. :wink::biggrin:


    But they need to stop that boogity thing at the beginning of a race.:mad:

    Holy Crap! what a great race. A few too many cautions but overall you couldn't sit down long. The two car draft was crazy in person.

    Hats off to Trevor Bayne and the Woods Brothers for a fine job all day. That boy deserved the win. He ran up front all day and put the block up just in time. If he waited one more second we would be congratulating Edwards or Labonte.

    My Brother in-law summed it up when he guessed all you heard from Trevor on the last lap was AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!! That boy must have been crapping his pants.

    Tony ended up where his car seemed to be most of the day 13th, he ran between 10-15th place most of the day except restarts where he would fly to the front and then fall on back. He never found the right tango partner all day.

    The real story was the truck race. On TV they looked slow but up close those boys were moving way faster than I have ever seen before. I swear they were just about as quick as the cup cars. And Kyle was funny as hell. He nearly blew up shoving that kid to the front. He looked like a freight train with the steam blowing out of his truck. Just awesome.

    Overall it was a great weekend. I got a tan, enjoyed the race and had some great food down in Daytona. Now back to the grind, and cold of NJ. Did I mention it was 80 all weekend down there. A little shocking when I got off the plane in Philadelphia on Tuesday night at 11pm.

    I think Waltrip copyrighted the damn phrase and gets paid for doing it. I freaking hate it. It's embarrassing.

    I was disappointed in Tony's finish but Trevor had a great race and deserved the win. Great for the Wood Bro's as well. Now we can really begin the season. Go Tony!
