How much power?
RTi A9 How much power does it need to preform well?
RTi A7 Same question?
I keep hearing the same, it needs lots of power, nobody says how much.
The A7 is what I am most interested in, which amps should I consider?
7.1 system

"Nobody says how much" because it really depends on a lot of factors, and generally more is better if you want a lot of headroom to listen very loud in a large room.
People on this forum will debate all day long about how different various amps sound from each other. I personally don't believe the differences are significant with well made amps... however one thing is clear - ALL amps sound terrible when they start clipping.
So the thing you need to decide is just how much headroom you need. If you listen to chamber music at moderate volumes most of the time. A true 200 watt amp is way overkill. But maybe you prefer pop/rock at 110 dB? Then 200 may not be enough?
There are people on this forum who will claim that a more powerful amp brings out more 'details' even at levels where neither amp is clipping. This is complete nonsense.
If you don't have any clue as to how much power you might need (your first system or such). Then you really need to audition some amps at your local audio boutique (in a proper listening room) with speakers of similar sensitivity to the a7/a9's, at the levels you normally listen. I think this will make it much more clear in your mind the amount of power you need.
