Triggering a amp without a trigger???

Hey guys, sorry about the slew of questions but I am trying to gather as much info as possible on building a ht room.

I have a acurus 3ch amp that i am wanting to include in my ht. It doesnt have a trigger port on it.

The way i understand triggers is that the amp remains in the on position and not supplying power to the speakers or consuming power until it gets signal from a reciever or pre-amp to supply the power to the speakers...right.

My question is, is it possible to trigger an amp that doesnt have a trigger port. I have done some very light reading and I had seen that some guys set up their rigs with a powerconditioner that can trigger the amp.... I didnt know if this would even be possible.

I guess i am just a little dumb when it comes to triggering a amp, I would like to leave the amp on ( in the on position) because i am setting up my ht componants in another room/or behind a cabnet.... again it isnt a big deal for me to get up to flip the amp power switch.

I can replace the amp with one with a trigger down the road if i need to but as of right now I will just get up to turn it off/on when i need.....because i cannot afford to replace it right now.

I would appreiate any help.

Fyi- my avr510 has a trigger out port on it.

Yeah, you can get a conditioner that can be triggered and that has delays on the ports so that not everything tried to come up at once. Short of modifying the amp to add a trigger circuit, this would be about the only way I can think of that you could do this.

Or you can just walk across the room and use the "manual trigger" method ;)

OR you can plug it in to the receiver switching outlet on the back(some newer ones do not have one) it it doesn't have to much amp draw.

    That's a horrible idea.

Logically using a secondary amp is because it will have more power than the receiver, which will mean it will draw more power than the receiver.
The switched outlets on receivers only give maybe... 200w of power, which is piggybacked on the power cable of the receiver.

Also, receivers aren't going to support the IEC 3 prong plug.

The best idea is to get a power conditioner... My Tripplite has IR triggers for certain outlets. I just have to learn the commands for those switches onto my Harmony and it'll be golden.

I have seen people using a Niles AC-3. It takes the 12v trigger and is said to be ok for power amps. http://www.amazon.com/Niles-AC-3-Voltage-Triggered-Power/dp/B00086IDDC

I have the Niles AC-3 and use it with my Parasound HCA-2200ii and it works well. My Denon receiver has two 12v trigger outs (3.5mm). One goes to my Parasound 2250 amp (3.5mm -> 2.5mm). The other goes to my other Parasound 1000A amp (3.5mm -> bare wire) and then to the Niles AC-3 (bare wire - bare wire).

So far no issues. Works like it's supposed to.

It looks like that Russound unit is about half the cost and uses jacks instead of bare wire. My only worry is it seems to be an import with no mainstream distribution like the Niles unit.

Are there any reviews from customers? Yeah, the Niles was a little pricey and I perhaps didn't do an exhaustive search of alternatives.

You're right - I'm not seeing any feedback for the Russound one. Absent any other alternatives, I will say that the Niles has more outlets (2 switched / 1 unswitched) for the extra $$. And I'd rather not take chances with my amp. Seems to be well built and the intention is to be used with audio components.

Look for an Adcom ACE. It does the sequential turn on process and is triggered by a low wattage 120 receptacle on the back of the AVR, or a switched outlet.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
