I am wanting to pick up a pair of LS90's in ebony. I am in Central OK.

These are great little speakers Earthy. What price range are you looking to spend on them? They show up from time to time here and on fleabay,CL,etc..

It all depends on what condition they are on. I have been looking for a pair for quite some time and have a good feel for what they sell for. I check the places you mention regularly. I've had my LS70's for nearly 20 years. and want to improve my rear surrounds, so getting a pair of LS90's just makes the most sense.

I'm still interested. If I don't find any, I may look at moving to different speakers. I love my LS70's but finding matching speakers is not easy.

I hear you Earthy, this was the reason I went to LS90's and LS50's, I believe they use the same driver.

If a pair of LS90's don't show up, I may some LSI's a try. Your right about 90's and 50's being the best pairing. I can always move my LS70's to my hobby room. I am starting to get a collection of amps and AVR's, so as I get more speakers, they will all go back into service somewhere around the house or shop.

Thanks for the heads up. I have kind of stopped looking beyond a two or three hour drive for them. It would be 8+ hours one way for those. I'm not up for that long of a drive. Especially if there not from a Club Polk member. It would be my luck to find them in much worse condition than I want.

Maybe look for a Polkie close that could audition them and possibly hold them for you....

I have passed on some that were offered by Polkies but so far away. We don't enjoy road trips as much as when we were younger. Even vacationing or visiting family seems painful driving that far. Now if there was a safe, economical way to ship speakers, we could have a network of Polkies helping each other get speakers from great distances.

Ya, I saw those. Two strikes, one.... I really want ebony to match my others and two... just about the limit I would be willing to travel.

That said, I would be willing to go a smidge farther for a nice ebony pair.

Damn, I've been on the hunt for some in oak, damn Dallas! Bit too far from Seattle. There were some black ones on CL locally for $300 I was considering with the possibility of re-veneering them in oak but I waited too long and they sold... Snooze you lose I guess...

Ya, I don't know how many sold near me over the last 6 months. I need to keep looking as buying a pair of them will keep me from upgrading the entire room. :biggrin:

I never really liked the look of the Oak version of the LS line. I have never seen any in person though. If these were any closer, I'd at least take a look. At 6 hours away it's just hard to justify. Maybe I need to build some shipping boxes and have them ready to send to anyone that can find some good ones.

they are not ebony but there was a pair listed on craiglist in oak that are in topeka. the posting is a couple weeks old though.

C'mon - you drive 2 easy days to Las Vegas, have a little fun there, another easy day to SF. You and the little lady enjoy SF and the wine country for a few days, pick up the speakers, and a few days later you're listening in your easy chair.

Sounds like those of us looking for LS90's need to get a network going. There's two pairs of Oak 90's relatively (300 miles) close to me. Days like this, I just try to convince myself that my LS70's are doing a good enough job.
