@slammin.....I don't know about the sc line Onkyos, but my 807 is a TOASTER. It gets almost too hot to touch after a while, and all I drive with it, power wise, are the heights. I recommend giving any Onkyo avr plenty of breathing room.

Also...I do want me a pair of M70s...but I think I'm going to hang back until I can go 4ohm. I really can't make my TFM-45 sing with a pair of 60s, but I couldn't do much more with 70s

Everything arrived...these towers are huge...and the center channel is a monster. LOL. They are much bigger than the 70's. I got it all hooked up but havent had a chance to do much with it yet.

I've got two of these on top of my 807, one does the job right now. In the summer when it's really hot, I run both.

    I bought a rc270.

I was actually looking at one of the bigger heavier receivers, like the 807, but I do not have the room for it. The max I can go on height is 7"

Even with the 270 I am going to have to move the receiver to the bottom shelf because the middle shelf is only 6" tall.

That's too bad on space-A, the 807 has proved to be quite a performer for me this last year (purchased last Feb.) Pleeeeeenty of power on tap. I'm sure you'll find something that will suffice.

Nice stand btw, any chance of placing a larger receiver elsewhere?

Oops, sorry, I saw that you already got the 270.

These guys have some decent options as well:

I personally like this one the best:

Nice thing with them is you can also just buy the parts and use your own 120mm fans you buy so you can buy super high rpm ones if you want.....

Is that a TYPO. Because a TFM-45 is:

Simultaneous High Current / High Voltage Magnetic Field Power Amplifier. Our most powerful stereo amplifier designs with your choice of power output displays, that TFM - 42 and TFM - 45 can bring any speaker system under tight, authoritative control, yet with the warmth that rivals tube designs. Silver seven transfer function modified. 375 watts RMS / channel into 8 ohms, 20 - 20 KHZ with no more than 0.5% THD. 500 watts RMS / channel into 4 ohms, 20-20 KHZ with no more than 0.5% THD. 1000 watts bridged mono. TFM - 45 features analog power meters.

More than enough power for a set of M-60s. You don't need 4 ohm amps for M series speakers, they're an 8 ohm load?

No joke. My Carver 125x5 makes my 60's sing. I havent even been able to get it up to 0 on the dial yet for fear of retrobution from my neighbors.....

I ran my old M70's off a receiver for awhile. Once i amped them they really came alive. The first one i used was a Rotel RB1070. Man that was a great little amp. Those 70's paired great with it. There's one for sale in the FM here right now i believe.

@cnh....I actually haven't had much time to listen, but I was referring to the fact that the 60's are rated at 225wpc and I'm powering them with a 375wpc amp. I just don't think I could improve my rig that much by upgrading to 70's. My 60's sound great with the A-753x...so I might not be used to the sound of the 45 yet.

Now where have I heard that one before???????

Your set up looks waaaaaaaay cool. I have the same front three that you do (as probably 800,000 others here:biggrin:) and my CS2 is mounted on top of my 50" plasma, makes the screen look tiny, I told my wife that I needed to go up to 60", well, she won't let me have it in our bedroom but there's hope for when we relocate into something bigger

I'm also promised an XPA3 for my birthday, hmmmm, April 1st can't get here fast enough

Im searched for an answer to this and can't find a definitive one. Thus, I go with assumptions. The LSi series that uses the cascading crossover has a 200Hz LPF for the "subwoofer." No other speakers with the cascading array show their LPF.

Assuming the Monitor 70s LPF is somewhere around 200Hz, the 70s will still pair nicely with a true subwoofer that is crossedover around 80Hz. Or even 120Hz. At least this is what I am hoping...
