I'm surprised no one has mentioned this movie yet or it may be my ability to use the search feature is sorely lacking.

A very good drama with an appropriate amount of humor. Fantastic performance by Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush but Firth had the much more difficult part as King George VI. 118 minutes yet I did not realize it was almost 2 hours long.

Rated R for language. No nudity, sex, or violence. There's rumor of a re-edit to take out the language in order to lower the rating to PG-13 but it would detract from the movie. It has it purpose.

Highly recommended. May not appeal to the younger crowd. There were perhaps a handful of people younger than me and I'm almost 40. The theatre was packed. I look forward to the Blu-ray because I'm a Geoffrey Rush fan and I do enjoy historical dramas but for others this may be a rental.

I couldn't agree more, excellent movie. We saw it yesterday at the Senator Theater and thoroughly enjoyed it. It really makes you think you were really there seeing history as it might have been.

I'm pretty sure it's the latter...

Saw it last night.... A solid 10. Screenplay and Direction were its strengths along with...

Colin Firth... He was exceptionally good. Easily a performance worthy of an Oscar.

Geoffrey Rush was also very good, but a few line deliveries flashed me to his Shakespeare in Love character. Not a bad thing, just bit of a distraction.

This is really a two-man show, but the supporting cast worked for me.

Helena Bonham Carter did her usual fine job in a limited supporting role.

It was a nice surprise to see Guy Pearce again, even if it was in a very limted support role. I liked his work in LA Confidential and Momento.

That's strange. I searched for the entire title, searched for just "king", and searched for "speech". Tour2ma's review did not show up.

I saw it last night too...and loved it. It was a refreshing change in plot/style from a lot of the other movies out there. Not a lot of action, but the story was incredibly engaging and engrossing. It's been a while since I was sad a movie was over....

I'm older and a history buff, so it was an easy movie for me to like...alot. Very well done and I think that though GB pretty much stole every scene, CF will get the Oscar nod. Might take best picture too.

Just saw ad where they're re-releasing an editted PG-13 version "for the whole family."

Personally I'd miss the rapid fire F-bomb sceen... although the King shouting "Fudge! Fudge! Fudge! Fudge! Fudge! Fudge!" could be even funnnier...

That said, how many kids are there that would be able to sit through 1 hr 51 min's of zero action???
