Maybe the most memorable hockey coach in modern history. Back in Febuary 1980 what US citizen did not know Herb Brooks name? I would venture to say most of America knew his name and was enammoured with one of the greatest sports achievements to date. I remember watching that game with my parents, and how very proud we were of them for beating the hated Russians.

Saddened me as well... 66 and still taken before his time.
Coincidentally HBO was rerunning "Do You Believe in Miracles - The Story of the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey Team" tonite. If you've not seen it, look for it. It's a fantastic tribute to the most improbable upset(s) in sport's history.More later,
Tour...

Sad day in sports.
I remember watching the "Miracle on Ice" game in 1980. The excitement was second to none. Nowadays, it's all pros out there. It's been said that it could be compared to a local college hockey team beating an NHL team. In the warm up games before the actual Olympics, the russians destroyed them like 10-0.
Thanks for the memories Herb!
JohnNo excuses!
