hi
I am replacing a Bose AM10 system from 2001. I was thinking of the RTi A1 the matching Csi4 center. I have a couple of concerns. The speakers will go in a wall unit and sit close to the rear of it. It's a built in cabinet.
I was thinking of the white Blackstone TL2 for rear and the free sub deal model 111.
I don't have anywhere other than the wall for the surrounds. I think the front is more important anyway.
Any other ideas? With the sub should I get different bookshelf speakers? Different surrounds?
what I want is better stereo sound for music and a better home theater experience.
thanks
Alan

Hi Alan - welcome to Club Polk! I know it's a little more $$, but why not another pair of RTiA1s or perhaps FXiA4s? Either option, plus a PSW505 would make for a really nice HT system.

Also, better sound for music will come from stepping up in the line for your mains, like the RTiA3 or one of the floorstanders. You'll definitely want a sub for music with any RTiA model below the 7s.

    hi
thanks for the responses. Are you a physician, "md" audioguy? I am a gastroenterologist.
    anyway....
I really don't have the space for the rear speakers, and prefer them to "go away". That's why I bought the Bose to begin with. I really don't want to have big speakers in the middle of my room. It is a large great room, and half is a vaulted ceiling family room, as part of a larger kitchen/great room.
The couch and a behind the couch table sit in the middle, facing the TV. As of now the side/rear surrounds are high on the wall up above the couch where the end of the high ceiling starts. I know this is hard to imagine. But I really want some small wall mounted speakers that don't take up any space. The Blackstones or the OWM series would fit the best in terms of decor. I know it might not be the best sound. Even the OWM5 would work, but they are bigger. Should I wait for the new Blackstone TL3?
I do seem to think that I will get a better experience from the RTi A1 than the current bose. I thought they were a high end bookshelf. And they will fit in the built in wall unit we have without being obtrusive. I also thought that the sub would make up for the smaller size of these compared with larger speakers.
Do you think that I will hear the difference over a TSi100? The room has a hard wood floor. No carpet. There isn't much sound dampering other than the couches. Kind of a bright room from an acoustic standpoint.

I just talked to the Polk people on the phone. they suggest the OWM3 would work better with the RTiA1. I will probably just go with those.

No, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night! In MD!:smile:

If they recommended it, and it fits into your decor as you intend, then that's surely the way to go. Evidently, those speakers have quite a few mounting option, so they seem ideal for your situation. Be sure to report back and let us know how it's working out.
