I'm curious, did you have to be home for DHL to deliver or did they leave it on your doorstep?

So far my experience with Jolida.net has also been positive, quick replies to all my emails. I'm wondering how long this current price is going to last, because this is a killer deal.

I had to be home for my deliver. Ordered on the 9th and will be delivered on the 15th. I would have received it on the 14th had I known it was going to be delivered.

I received my JD100 cd player from Jolida.net this morning, delivery only took a week. After I let it warm up the first thing I noticed over my panasonic blue ray was the much improved bass definition, it was tighter and a lot less bloated. The highs had lost that somewhat rough edge I noticed with the blue ray. I was really amazed at what the Jolida did for CD's that I thought sucked on the blue ray, it was like magic, these CD's suddenly sounded much better. What a great buy, for $559 it was a great deal. Now I feel like my Tyler Acoustic Linbrook Signature Systems are getting the source they deserve.

have you changed the tubes out yet? Also remember it does take some burn in time on the tubes.

I went with EI gold pins, ( per the recommendation of F1) I had svortech in there ( i probably spelled it wrong) and I liked the EI better. BOTH sets of tubes though were an improvement over the originals.

The Jolida was an excellent score and I'm really enjoying mine.

The price now for the JD100 is $629, I guess it all timing.

Hopefully by this summer I'll swap out the tubes and get a new power cord.

I have a Cambridge DAC Magic that sounds great, and I've read great reviews of that CD player. However, when people talk about spending money on higher-end CD players, I like to suggest going the streaming direction with a Squeezebox Touch.

I have a Marantz SACD player and a Squeezebox touch. For a test, I ripped a regular CD onto a NAS drive. Then I plugged the Marantz and Touch into my Cary Xciter DAC via two identical digital coaxial cables. Finally, I put the CD into the Marantz and hit play, as well as hit play on the Touch and streamed an AIFF file to it. At my listening test party, everyone agreed that streaming the recording to the touch beat the pants off of playing it in a CD player. Keep in mind that the same DAC was doing the conversion, so the big difference was real-time reading of the disc vs. a ripped stream.

I owned a JD100 for a couple of years, it's a wonderful-sounding player for the money, and is definitely the most musical of the bunch. My one caveat with the Jolida is simply that if you plan on adding a separate DAC in the near future, owning the Jolida isn't your best use of your $$, as the tubes won't be a part of the digital signal path.

Is there any difference in quality between the Chinese Jolida and the US Jolida gear. I read that there is lawsuit going on between the two. The Chinese made Jolida is considerably less expensive than the US Jolida.

Actually it's all made in China. The US version may due some post-production QC checks, but I'm not positive.

The Jolida CD players are all made in China, my understanding is that the gear sold by both the Chinese and US Jolida are/were made in the same factory.

I will say this, the unit I received from Jolida.net (Chinese) has outstanding build quality and the sound quality is terrific. I've had my unit for about 2 weeks so I believe the stock tubes should just about be burned in, I have noticed an improvement during that time. The next step is to acquire some Svetlana tubes!

I have had this DVD player, for a little over a year now.I used it as a stand alone CD Player. This is the first time, I really listen to it,without it being connected to my Audio Alchemy DAC.Man,I'm hearing inter details, that I didn't hear With Audio Alchemy. this will be short lived, though. Here comes Oppo 95,to take it's place.

Hello, Obsession18. You are just at the beginning of that Jolida. Oh, my manners.......Congrat's on the purchase and welcome to Club Polk.

She will respond well to a power cord upgrade and once you start tube rolling she will come to life. The stock tubes pretty much suck. Some tube dampers or isolation footing also helps to tame the harmonics. You think you like what you hear now?

Have fun. Play hard and enjoy the music.

I'm thinking about trying a set of the following tubes first:

    Svetlana - $13 each
Ei Yugo (Cryo treated) - $22 each
    PSVANE - $50 each

As for a power cord, I have a hard time understanding how it could improve the sound. I am a power engineer so I'm familiar with the ampacity and voltage performance of various size conductors. The JD100 only draws 20 watts so a heavier gauge of wire is not required to avoid a large voltage drop. Then there is the wire that is already in your wall. The only thing I can think of that may offer an improvement is some form of shielding to avoid RF interference.

I may be wrong about the power cord, I admit I'm still pretty green about this stuff. Can you offer any insite as to how a power cord improves the performance?

I have the treasures in mine with about 25 hours. Starting to sound nice but at the moment I still prefer the Sylvania BP 3 mica D getter 5751.

That may change as the treaure burn in more.

Definitely! Jim McShane is THE person, IMHO. Here's his website

    http://pages.prodigy.net/jimmcshane/tubes.htm

I'd skip trying to find what you need on his site and just drop him an email. He's amazingly knowledgable and really nice. He'll also give you an honest opinion on what tubes would be good for your particular application. He's talked me out of expensive NOS tubes more than once, so he won't try to rip you off.

Unfortunately, no. I have no idea why they work better than a stock cord. I honestly have the same questions you do as to why but I really could care less. All I know is that the Jolida responded differently to a couple of upgraded PC's I have used on her. Most notable between all of them? Probably a quieter noise floor that makes the subtle nuances stand out a tad more. Sound stage placement would rank second IMO.

I have used a PS Audio Prelude, Signal Cable Digital Reference, Analysis Plus Power Oval 10 and Nerve Audio HO5A-PC1. The Nerve Audio is currently in use but I have had positive results using all of these.
