Anyone have any experience, or opinions on Thiel speakers?

I am considering buying a set of used Thiel CS1.6's, but have not listened to them yet.

Thanks,

They are VERY revealing! Some say they can be a little lean but I have only found that with bright recordings. make sure you have excellent electronics and you are in for a REAL treat.

They have a nice sound to them and image well, but can sound a little forward with the wrong gear.

I currently have a used Antique Sound Labs Line One tube pre powering a 200 wpc Rotel 1080. The little inexpensive ASL sounds great to my ears, especially after I swapped the single stock ElectroHarmonix 12AU7 tube with a RedLion tube.

If the Thiel's don't need much power, I also have a Cayin TA-30 integrated that I think sounds nice.

Tubes seem to "tame" otherwise bright or forward speakers that I didn't like so much with only/all SS amplification.

    Thanks for the help!

I owned a pair of 3.6's and really liked them. The only reason I got rid of them is that my room was too small for the "size" of the sound. The added gain to the bass was too much and no treatments could control it. They are very revealing as everyone has said, but with my gear at the time they were not harsh.
