Need help mounting f/x500i or FXi50 to ceiling mounts
I've always had my surrounds (f/x500i) mounted on the wall behind me. Now I'm getting a new receiver (STR-DA4ES), and need to put my surrounds to the side since the surround backs will be behind me. Here' sthe deal: When sitting, I have a slide-glass door to the left and a door to the right. What speaker mount does everyone recommend? I need a ceiling mount. My concern is the f/x500i have 5 points of contacting the wall (4 feet and the mounting plate). If you hang the surrounds from the ceiling, will it put too much strain on the mounting plate? I have 16" from the ceiling to the top of the door. The fx500i is a little over 15"...so if I can ceiling mount it close to the ceiling, the door should open under it. If not, I need to rig up some kind of track system, where the surround on the right side can slide parallel with the wall away from the door when it needs to be opened.
Any suggestions on a good ceiling mount? I've looked on the internet, and I can't tell if they are designed to fit the key holes for the fx500i or not.
Any help is seriously appreciated!!

This is exactly how mine are mounted. Used HD drywall anchors (25 lb rating each) with screw eyes threaded into them. Installed eyebolts into matching locations on the back of the 500s. Wish I had a digicam...

Here's what you want. http://www.omnimount.com/product.asp?p=53. You may even want the one's that support 60 pounds. I bought these (the 60lb rated) to hang some fx1000's from the ceiling and they did the trick just fine. They're hollow on the inside to hide the speaker wire. You'll have to remove the Polk mounting plate and drill into the back of your 500. I checked with Polk and no problem with doing this.

wlrandall, your speakers are mounted how....hanging from the ceiling or on a track to slide away? I was looking at the OmniMounts 30, and I'm hoping the bracket will fit the keyholes on the back....I'm not removing the mounting plate and drilling into these speakers. Thanks for the info.-Bryan
