Hello there...I just put this set togheter...
Front is Monitor 70 serie II
Center is Csi 3
Surround is Rti 8 (wich I already had... as front speakers)
Receiver is Onkyo SR-705
Now I'm shopping for the Surr. Back speakers and subwoofer... what would match nice for this set I have and is this a good set? And How could I configure to get the best sound possible from these speakers?
I will post pictures soon once I have my living room done!
Thanks in advance for any answer!

Surrounds don't need to be an exact match. What's your budget for a sub?

Just curious why you put the Rti8's as surrounds? They were timbre matched to your center and are a step up from the monitor line?

I agree with B Run. Put the 8's up front, the 70's in back, and use all the money you have for a killer sub.
If you think you need 7.1, you probably don't. Your room size and configuration would help us figure that out though."They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Using the RTi8s as surrounds actually places them lower than your intended fronts - not good. Also, while probably a better solution, using the Monitor 70s as surrounds seems to be a waste. I suggest using one or the other elsewhere, or selling off a pair. For example, sell the 70s and buy 2 FXi speakers and 2 RTi bookshelves if you're bent on going 7.1.

I have this Rtis for a couple years already and just got this M70... I tought because they have more woofers they would work better than the Rtis. ( as u can see Im far from an expert.. lol ) I also have a infinity Hts20 system... I'm using the sub from this system... http://www.infinitysystems.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=HTS-20&CheckProduct=Y&Language=ENG&Country=US&Region=USA
I thought I was doing a good thing getting this M70... I hope I didnt spend my money for nothing. And i'm not sure If I will go 7.1 but I like the F/x series... -

Do you think would be a total waste if I keep what I have and get 2 F/x ? Since I already have it and doesnt look bad in my living room.. -
I'd sell the 70's and get some nice Fxi's for surrounds personally.

It could be done, but just got last sunday the M70.... will probally do in a near future... What about sub? any suggestion? nothing crazy but decent...I have now is a infinity HTS-20 -
having the M70 as front speakers, paired with the CSi3 will make a big difrence in sound quality? (keep in mind Im not a expert to notice all kind of things a expert would) I also have read a lot about polk PSW505 sub.... is that good? The price is terrific...

Ok. What we're trying to tell you here is that home theater speakers should be matched. The term people use for this is timbre matched. Think of them as having the same tonal qualities. Speakers of the same series are timbre matched. Unfortunately, this often has little to do with brand. The Monitor line is not timbre matched to the RTi line (RTi line includes CSi centers and FXi surrounds). Many believe that the most critical speakers that should be timbre matched are the front three. Even though the M70 has more drivers, it's actually a step down in Polk's line. No worries though... it's still a quality product. That's why people are suggesting it as a surround.
All that said, try it out a few different ways and find out how it actually sounds to your ears. You wouldn't be the first person with a mismatched setup. You may consider it an interim solution, or you may be more than satisfied and leave it as is.
The 505 has been getting some decent reviews as a great value at its price point. It wouldn't be a bad choice at all. -

@mdaudioguy... I really appreciate your time to answer my question.... I was starting to get anxious because oh the M70... but u gave me a little peace of mind now! I will stick with that for now and add 2 FXi and the PSW505...
Thank you very much! -
I'd like to thank you all for the reply and suggestion!
