I don't know if any of y'all saw my posts in Hoosier's EBAY WARNING thread, but I'm curious about something with regard to PayPal.
Have any of you guys cancelled a payment, or made a complaint after you've paid for something? I did this and the guy is seemingly under the impression that I've gotten my money back on a driver that I paid him for, but I haven't. I hope to have it worked out, but I don't know if I'm just overreacting and should release the complaint.
Both the buyer and myself could hold out on the other (him not sending unless complaint is cancelled, me not cancelling the complaint until I get tracking information). I really want the driver, and I think that it's a good deal(nothing screaming scam), but the fact that we exchanged 3 or 4 emails in a 12 hour period, and then as soon as payment was made, nothing in about 28 hours. I know people have schedules that they have to deal with, but am I wrong in flipping the complaint button so quickly?
Also, PayPal should become some sort of escrow type of company. Come to think about it, I should start something like that....how hard could it be to take money, and just send it on after tracking information is verified.........

PayPal offers NO protection and will not refund money, period! As for your transaction, I think you jumped the gun, give the guy a chance.....28 hours isn't that long. Maybe he was passed out from drinking too much the night before or just went away for a day. There is a company called Escrow.com that I would use for any transaction over $500.00.Political Correctness'.........defined

ok......rundown.....
The guy emailed me Friday afternoon indicating that he was getting some boxes and had some lessons and that he would be sending out the driver on Saturday. Later that night, from the email address that's linked to his PayPal account, he asked why I had filed the complaint and asked if I was still interested in teh driver or not.
I emailed him back telling him that I was, and that all he had to do was to send PayPal the shipping information for the complaint to be lifted. By the time that he finally got back to me today, he said that he had slept in and didn't make it to the Post Office today and that he'd send it out on Monday morning and have the shipping information to me by noon.
I replied to him just informing him that I hadn't received the money back into my account and that as a buyer, the last thing that you want to have happen is for communication to seemingly stop as soon as payment is made. I thanked him for his understanding and thought that I would have the driver by mid next week.
Tonight I was sitting at home and all of a sudden I got an email from him telling me that couldn't transfer the money out of PayPal to his account and he decided to relist the item and gave me the auction number again. I emailed him back and told him to either send me the item that I've paid for, or to refund the item, but under no circumstances could he do both as he was currently doing. I'll be damned that within 10 minutes, he had refunded the money and I'm all done with it.
I may have jumped the gun on the complaint, but I didn't win this item as an auction win. He emailed me after the winning bidder said he wasn't interested and we worked out a deal for the price plus shipping. After payment is made, there is no reason that a seller doesn't send at least a simple email saying that they received the payment and would send it out within the day or two, ya know?
Basically, the money is back in my account, and I'm done with that. Too many things struck me as odd with this one, and unless I'm actually the winner of an auction, I'm going to seriously reconsider ever doing another purchase like this.......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Never pee off a stranger who has your money.
Also I recently helped a friend who accepted paypal on an item he sold. He couldn't accept the money into his account and it turned out that his paypal address was not verified. Very simple but when you have a problem like this nothing in paypal tells you how to fix the problem. You have to figure it out for yourself. My point is that things happen. The buyer was getting a little frustrated because he paid for the item minutes after the auction but then received emails about not receiving the money and on top of that he was sent another invoice for payment from paypal (via my friend and myself) before we figured out what was going on. Luckily he was a really nice guy.

Weird little turn of events......I'd written this guy off and decided to look elsewhere for a driver.
He emailed me the other day indicating that he'd had a bad week and apologized for not following through with me with the whole situation, and said that if I want the club, I could have it.
I told him that I'd only consider buying it if it was a COD transaction(which I'll be paying an additional $15). After 4 emails back and forth, he agreed, so hopefully within a week, I'll have the driver, and he'll get a check for $190.comment comment comment comment. bitchy.
