One of my speakers is slowly dying. One is louder than the other when balance is set to center. Are my crossovers going out?I found these on ebay are the the right set for my 7bs? http://cgi.ebay.com/2-POLK-AUDIO-2-3-WAY-SPEAKER-CROSSOVERS-/230577506935?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item35af7d8a77 If so how hard if this fix for a newbie? I love these speakers and would like to fix them rather than get a new pair.

are yours fused? Plenty of folks here to help you with crossovers if you determine that what the issue is.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Yes I have fuses and have checked them. The ones on ebay are not as beefy as the the ones I have seen here redone.

The seller listed these crossovers for speakers with two midrange drivers. The 7s have only one. The 10s have two. Don't know if that has anything to do with your problem.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.

I recently had the same problem.
Thought it was a mid at first, but after testing everything my tweeter did not test right.
After further examination, I noticed some fluid in the gap between the tweeter and tweeter "ring".
Replaced both tweeters and all is well again (perfectly balanced).
Something to look into.Testing

First I would like to thank you for your reply's.How do i test tweets? multi meter? Now that I am learning from reading this forums.Someone replaced one of the tweeters before I got them. One side has peerless the other one sl1000. The one with peerless is weak. This could be why I got them so cheep.I do want to fix right.Should I start by replacing the tweeters with the replacements from polk? Or try to find a set of originals? They still sound o.k. but I would like them to sound like they did when they were new. What would it cost to redo the crossovers?
