I had forgotten how good these sound, quiet and fairly neutral sounding. These were the tubes in my Wright Preamp when I bought it.

At this price and the SQ you will have to spend many times more.

OK, pics and reading of the Svetlana 6550cs. I have 6 of them, the 2 spares have a single o getter and the 4 have 2 small dish looking getters. Boxes for 2 spares.

I believe the 5692 is a military verson of the 6SN7 (?) I know they worked great in my preamp which uses 6SN7 and in my amp using 6SN7.

I believe the characteristics are same for both.

The 5692 was based on the 6SN7 tube, but physically reinforced to survive in artillery aiming electronics. This lead to a tube that was more rigid in its internal (an maybe external) construction and has a lower microphonic potential. It is speced to be a 10,000 hour tube, but that would be true at a slightly lower plate voltage, that the military used them at, than most audio applications today. Works well as a direct substitution for the 6SN7. Maybe just not for 10,000 hours.

The CBS HYtrons look just like the RCA red base except the based are brown.

They both sound the same to me but the RCAs usually command more money.
