I bought a 26" for the office and can't believe the quality of the picture. It was on sale for 198.00 at xmas time.
Its an LED LCD with 2 HDMI's, , RGB, USB, SPDF, composite and standard RCA inputs. I love it for computing and tv.
Will buy more Vizio as a result."The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it." Neil deGrasse Tyson. -
greg- which model did you get? I'm looking at the 42-47" Vizio's @ Walmart, and 42" Insignia @ BB. Also how does it handle picture and if possible video from a usb drive?2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

I got the VO420E-M model no usb hookup and no apps hence the $500 price including tax. I use a Vizio blue ray player with all the apps and usb that I got at pawn shop for $60 looked brand new, so I wasnt to concerned with the tv not having usb or apps. I looked at the Insignia compared to the vizio and the vizio had a much more vibrant picture and richer colors. I do understand the store is not a good judgement as they dont change any of the settings out of the box but still the Vizio was much better. By the way my Vizio blue ray player handles pics and video from usb just fine, fantastic quility and I like the apps on the player.TV: Philips 42" LCD 1080p

I had a Vizio blu ray, the narrow non wifi model, and it worked and streamed well but did get stuck on a few netflix titles so I returned it and picked up a LG550 from bb and have been pleased so far. I'm kinda torn between a 47" Vizio LCD 1080p 120Hz or the Vizio 42" LED 1080p 120Hz models @ wally wrld both $698.. I don't like the curved sides of the LED so much but the 47" might not fit in my entertainment cntr (they only give dimensions w/o stand). I have an insignia 32" that I've been very happy with and can get triple reward points at BB this week they are offering a birthday week special so that makes it a nice option. I wish I could afford a 1080 panasonic plasma but my budget is really $700 max, so I'm not sure what I'll end up with. I plan on grabing the sales ads tomorrow and try to pick one up b4 the super bowl.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

I've had a 55" Vizio for a little over a year. I am very pleased. Anyone who has seen my TV for the first time usually gasps! Great product for the money!Carl

We got the XVT 42" model from Sams Club for Xmas when on sale($780)...so far so good. Tweaked some of the settings for a much better picture than factory defaults.Apps are cool, great viewing Flickr pics on a large screen instead of confined to a PC monitor.Yep, my name really is Bob.

Pretty broad statement. Can you back this up with data or additional information?>

Vizio evolved from a company know as Goldstar, no relation to Samsung. Plus their specs and features are current with other production models.
Samsung has an enormous advetising budget. Their sponsorships of sporting events, etc. are worldwide. Plus they have a lot of advertising in every airport in the world. I suspect the money they spend is built into the price of every TV and Samsung product. They have good products but their prices are enabling a lot of competitors to enter the market. Vizio's sales growth has been staggering, due to both price and quality.Carl -

I fix many of these panels as a hobby in my spare time. Like I said, I worked on Vizio, Prima, Akai, Insignia and a few other brands, which people never recognize. They are only different from the outside. The moment you pop the back off, most of the time it's LG. The rest of the times it's Samsung. Very easy to use Google to find out what brand electronics and panel are inside your TV.Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies

Years ago I was told that, of all companies, Sharp used to make a number of LCD panels. Any truth to this???

I don't know much about sharp. Their Aquos series used to be the best years ago, then their build quality went down the drain. I prefer to work with plasma TVs, but that's just my personal preference.
Greg is right about LCD panels. Many are made by Samsung, but quite a few no-name ones are made by the companies in Korea and Taiwan, which we never heard about. I was talking mainly plasma TVs when I said that most no names are LG. I have a vizio 50-inched on the bench now, and it's LG (plasma).Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector for movies
